While visiting Seattle on business my colleague and I took a walk through the Pike Place Market section of town and continued north in search of place to eat. We had a couple of places in mind from talking to the hotel staff. The Virginia Inn was so inviting when we walked by we had to stop and check out the menu and the beer offerings. We continued on for a couple of blocks to find the other places. After checking them out we decided to back track to the Virginia Inn. Probably the best decision we made all week!!
As other reviewers have noted, the atmosphere of the place draws you in. Although we were visitors, the place had the feel of an old pair of slippers. The staff was very competent and helpful with both the drink and food menu. There was no rush on anything which added to the relaxed feel. The local craft brewed beers were excellent. We ordered the cheese plate from the sampler menu. There were three excellent European cheeses served with fresh bread, raisins and candied nuts. My colleague had the fish and chips. I had the sea scallops wrapped in bacon and served on a bed of homemade gnocchi and fava beans in a light balsamic. The quality of both meals was superb. Exceeding expectations and leaving us vowing to come back the next time we are in Seattle.
