Description: Ivar’s Acres of Clams has unveiled a whale of a transformation at this flagship location on Pier 54, located on Seattle’s Waterfront overlooking Elliott Bay. Ivar’s Acres of Clams just completed a stunning remodel, the biggest in its 79-year storied history. The down-to-the-studs remodel includes expanded indoor dining space, a new massive outdoor patio, expanded state-of-the-art kitchen and a completely refreshed interior that pays homage to our iconic restaurant’s roots. Upon entering Ivar’s Acres of Clams you will be immersed in the history and lore of Ivar’s and our flounder Ivar Haglund. Original features of the Pier, which opened in 1901, including exposed fir beams and a refurbished Galbraith-Bacon & Co sign from the original tenant (some say the Seattle Costco of its time) were restored. With a more airy feel and expansive views, diners will enjoy views of the Puget Sound, passing Washington State ferries and fireboats from historic Fire Station #3. If you prefer al fresco dining, enjoy a stunning, new outside patio deck. Bask in the open-air breeze while taking in the sights and sounds of Elliott Bay, including the tranquil passing of ferries – and the occasional seagull friend. To satisfy your craving for Northwest seafood, our chefs have created award-winning preparations to reflect the season’s bounty, yet still showcase Ivar Haglund’s world-famous original recipes. Choose from wild Alaska salmon, deep-water halibut, Alaska King Crab, Dungeness Crab, jumbo prawns, manila clams and weathervane scallops, just to name a few. Be sure to check out our Pier 54 Fish Bar, which offers take-out service of Ivar's classics including award-wining fish ‘n chips, chowder and other seafood favorites. As part of the local lore, feel free to feed a few fries to the seagulls. It’s a photo opportunity worth sharing! Be sure to check out our virtual tour: https://goo.gl/maps/rG3RGF9nQ6o

“Fresh Fried Clams - FINALLY!”
Reviewed November 8, 2013

I love fried clams and it's next to impossible to find them fresh. Most places fry clams that taste like it's one step away from friend rubber bands - but not Ivar's. They use a good amount of breading but not too much. You won't be disappointed nor will the kids, but they fill you up - especially after the Chowder sampler. A fellow diner had the squash soup that was excellent as well.
Great place to go eat after a late afternoon visit to the Market.

We drove from the SeaTac airport area and were concerned about traffic. I recommend driving if it's a visit planned for the middle of the week. For a large Metro city it was easy to navigate. We parked off Western (Public lot) which was very convenient to walk the area. But be warned though, the covered parking area closes at 8pm.

“Not worth remembering”
Reviewed November 7, 2013

Strongly recommended by friends, I tried this restaurant. Dissatisfied with my first visit, I went back again. There were no new pleasant surprises. The food is remarkably banal and overpriced. What must have been a charming place decades ago is now a tourist trap and a haven for seagulls fed by tourists. The sunset, which comes free of charge with the restaurant, is gorgeous when the sun feels like showing itself.

Their Crispy Calamari is one exception. True to their name, the Crispy Calamari are crispy and delightfully light on the outside and tender on the inside. This dish is highly recommended.

“Heard it was good -and it was”

The server was nice and informative, the seafood was delicious. Small plates allowed us to try a varied menu. FRESH! Nice dining room, lots of windows with water views.

“Okay if you like New England style seafood in Seattle”
Reviewed October 29, 2013

Ivars is a Seattle landmark restaurant that is a “required” tourist stop. Although we had been to Seattle many times, we had never eaten at Ivars. Our sister-in-law suggested it as a nice change from our usual stops when we are there. It is located along the waterfront amidst the piers. It has a large glass enclosed seating area where you can sit overlooking the water if you order from their take-out counter along the left side of the restaurant. The dining room (where we chose to eat) is large done nicely in dark wood and also overlooks the water and piers.
We decided to start with New England style clam chowder. It was excellent and was loaded with clams with a creamy rich flavor. Almost like being in Maine. Our main course was fish and chips. All four of us ordered the fish and chips and decreed the chips (fries) were excellent. The deep batter fried cod was good. It was not greasy, but something was lacking. I could not put my finger (in this case my mouth on it). By the way, the portion was not very large.
The menu is expansive and perhaps one of us should have ordered something else, but we all opted for the same dish. The prices are fair.

“You haven't been to Seattle if you haven't tried Ivars!”
Reviewed October 29, 2013

Unpretentious & delicious! Take the entire family to this iconic Seattle restaurant. Whether you order the clams, or Ivars' version of fish & chips, you will not be disappointed. We go with family and friends. The atmosphere is casual, so no need to stress about dressing up those kids!
