Rays has been a family tradition for decades and with good reason: their food consistently measures up, the menu is full of fresh and traditional ideas, the sunset views cannot be beat. This city institution has kept up with the times and remains a must-stop each visit.

By far the best Clam Chowder in Seattle. First class dining downstairs, elegant, formal, AMAZING. Upstairs is less formal the food is still amazing. The sunset views are great.

Our group of 5 out of towners bussed to Ray's for a sunset dinner. This included a half mile walk from the bus stop but it was worth it. Greeted by a view of Puget Sound, boaters, misty hills and a setting sun, we dined on local shellfish followed by salmon and halibut-all fresh and excellent.
The sommelier steered us to a Wilmette Valley Pinot Gris that was reasonable and delicious.
A great experience, we would return!

Combined my visit with a trip to Chittenden Locks. Great fish and chips with homemade tartar sauce. Sat upstairs in the bar area and enjoyed great views of Puget Sound and watched the boats coming and going through the locks.

I like Rays and have been there many times but I was disappointed with the service this time. The setting is stunning and it is a pleasant place to eat. The food is good, perhaps could be better. We had to wait a little time for our appetisers, which was ok, but then they brought our entrees to the table very quickly when we had literally just finished eating, without checking we were ready and without clearing the table first. Personally I find that unacceptable for a good restaurant. The staff didn't think there was anything wrong with that until we Pointed it out to them! So in summary this is a good place to go but the service lets them down.
