I love sushi and Shiro's does a great job with sashimi and sushi. Located in the bustle of Belltown. Just wished it were open for lunch.

“The best sushi in seattle.”

If you're in Belltown and looking for great sushi place, go to Shiro's. You will not disappointed. Great services and atmosphere. Great sake, too.

“not what it used to be”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 5, 2012

I had been going to Shiro's for over 20 years but since he has retired the restaurant has gone down hill. Went there a few days ago with my girlfriend and told the sushi chef to make his choice. Out of 8 different selections only one was really good, and that was the fatty tuna, the rest were boring.

“The real deal.”

Super traditional, fresh and delicious. A must for real sushi outside of Japan. Beautifully displayed and expertly prepared.

“excellent sushi, quaint setting”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 11, 2012

3rd time there last night, for a reason (I live out of town): it's very good, and moderately priced. Miso soup was excellent (chose mushrooms rather than tofu, and the waitress suggested that I chopstick them out of the bowl, rather politely deflecting my request for a spoon. Tip: you CANNOT grab small, slippery mushrooms with sticks), and the vegetable tempura was fantastic, right down to the sprig/spray of flask-fried vermicelli pasta garnish.

The yellow-tail sushi was excellent, as was the unagi roll (not so hot on the salmon skin roll).

Three energetic sushi chefs behind the counter (which seats about 10), cheerily greeting and bidding adieu. Service was very good (see bit about chopsticks/spoon above). Dinner for 2 was $50 (w/o alcohol, but with tea).

Call for reservations before 8pm.

Definitely will return.
