Attended a vintage Sangiovese luncheon hosted by Serafina and sister restaurant Cicchetti. Had such an amazing time, that we came back for dinner that night!
Luncheon featured DOCG Sangiovese from vintages 1995 to 2009, paired to perfection with dishes including antipasti (Chickpeas three ways, Sardines, and prosciutto with shaved artichokes and olives), Pork terrine with dry cherries and orange zest, Duck confit agnolotti with morel mushrooms and foie gras sage butter, and lamb prepared two ways (Roasted rack of lamb with rosemary and balsamic reduction, and house made lamb sausage with poached Mission figs). Amazing food and an education from sommeliers Sal and Cheryl.
Went back to dinner and enjoyed superior attentive service without pretention. Enjoyed entrees of seared halibut atop baby squash with a snow pea puree, and pan seared pork chop with a fig reduction. Food matched perfectly with a bottle of Chateau Masur red!
Great day spent with the team at Serafina/Cicchetti!
