It's just nice to support others on the right path and get a good meal at the same time. I went by myself and thoroughly enjoyed the beet salad. It was clean and fresh and flavorful AND healthy. I took my husband the next day. I had the salmon tacos and my husband got the steak. We both enjoyed our dishes. My husband, who does NOT like kale, liked the sauteed kale. Nice atmosphere too. I would definitely go back for the food and support the purpose of the restaurant.

The food at Fare Start was very good. Loved the tomato basil soup so much that I had a bowl after my cup of soup. The crispy pork sandwich was juicy and crispy and delicious.

The restaurant has a mission as well--they train people who would have difficulty finding jobs. Only in Seattle. What a cool city!

This restaurant helps people develop skills they can use to get and keep a job. It serves healthy, delicious meals. The prices are very reasonable. I enjoyed the soup of the day - a spring pea soup made with coconut milk - and the grilled salmon.

In addition to the nobility of the mission, this restaurant is strategically placed right next to the new Amazon behemoth buildings, appointed with simple & tasteful decor. The food is very good (and relatively inexpensive); try the Nicoise. it was good experience all around, i will surely come back.

FareStart restaurant showcases a well know chef and celebrates graduating culinary students every Thursday night. The proceeds from every 3 course meal ($29) and all tips are donated to pay one adult student's total transformation experience at FareStart - training, wrap-around support services, and graduate support services lasting for approximately one year.

We arrived for 1st seating at 5 pm and started with asparagus drizzled with a heavenly sauce of whipped chevre, fine herbs and pine nuts. Main course was artistically arranged duck leg served with Rhubarb glaze, forbidden rice and pea vines. Dessert was coconut panna cotta decorated with strawberries and holy basil.
At 7 pm all service is temporarily stopped while any graduating students are honored with a short speech. Three students graduated when I was there last Thursday. It feels great knowing the delicious gourmet meal you just ate was prepared by students who are making a better life for themselves with new culinary skills.
The Thursday menu is different every week, and always delicious. I've been going for years, don't know why I didn't think to post on Tripadvisor until now.
There is seating upstairs and downstairs, and separate dining room for larger parties upstairs. They also serve lunch every day and catering on other evenings.
