Description: Enjoy delicious seafood in Seattle and our own Rooftop Honey Ale on tap at Shuckers. Boasting the beautifully carved oak paneling and unique tin ceiling of the haberdashery it once was in the 1930's, Shuckers Oyster Bar in Seattle is one of Seattle's oldest and most pre-eminent oyster bars. With a daily menu featuring a selection of fresh fish and seafood, Shuckers brims with several varietals and featuring local artisan microbrews.

Read the reviews and took a walk down the street to give it a shot.

Pros:
1) Food - Quality was good. Tried the dungenous crab cakes. Great flavor accompanied by petite fresh greens with balsamic vinegar and very nice red potatoes mixed with fresh mushrooms - really enjoyed this unique combination.
2) Beverage - Tried the Pikes Kilt Lifter in a mug, nice beer before the meal at a reasonable price ($5.50)
3) Service - prompt and knowledgeable.

Cons:
1) Space - a little tight, get there early. Might even consider happy hour from 3-5 where there are discounts on beverages and oysters are $1.50 each.
2) Price - main courses appear to run from upper $20s to upper $30s. The food quality was good; however, proportion was a bit small.

All in all, good food. Would recommend if you are in the area, not sure it would be on my list if I had to drive into the city.

The concierge at our hotel recommended Shuckers. The food was very good. The service was not as good as I would expect for a restaurant in this price range, and the prices were a little high. The tables are very close to one another. I did not think the atmosphere was anything too special. The reason I give it a "very good" rating instead of "average" is that the quality of the food was good enough to overcome its shortcomings.

We didn't know that Shucker's was part of the Fairmount Hotel. We entered through the back side (across the street from our hotel). Once inside we saw signs indicating the Fairmount. The food was amazing. This was our night to splurge so we had clam chowder, salad, oysters on the half shell, jumbo shrimp cocktail, and a filet mignon. We shared everything. The oysters and shrimp were the biggest I have ever seen. The food and service was excellent. Will definitely go again. We had an hour wait, but well worth it. They take reservations but we just walked in.

Sat at the bar and had dinner. Although the bar tender was not very interactive, he did adequately answer questions when asked. The food was good. Since the competition in Seattle is so great, each restaurant must step up its game to compete. Although I'm sure Shuckers was a competitor at one time, they can no longer rest on their laurels, they need to step it up and move from the mundane.
