Description: When stepping out of Etta’s front door to take in the grand parade cascading through the Pike Place Market, often, on a sunny day, the enormous vista of Mount Rainier looms in the distance. From this vantage point, people are loaded with market flowers, local farm goods and a growler of our local breweries best. Etta’s Big Mountain BBQ is a soul satisfying pit stop on any market journey. Cold draft beers, smoked meats, and warm hospitality all renew the market spirit enjoyed by so many, for so long. TD&Co. have been serving customers from all over the world out of these doors since 1984. Thank you for visiting the market, keeping one of the world’s great destinations active, alive and purposeful. As always, thank you for the support.

Had dinner here in May 2016, and the halibut special was the winner. we were a party of 3 and we all ordered specials in different fish and prep. The halibut was by far the best- even better than their special rub salmon.

We went for cocktail hour. Had the oysters and crab salad. Excellent. The bartender has a great fun personality.

Etta's is a very good seafood place in a very touristy section of Seattle. It's a great place to sit and watch the eclectic folks of Seattle wander by! The oysters are superb, 6 different varieties the night we were there and all were superb! The Chowder superb, rich and creamy with lots of clams. BUT the star attraction is the Stinginess Crab served half or whole. DO NOT opt for the half as you will be sorry! The Crab Cakes were delicious and very filling even though they appear small at first. AND do NOT miss the coconut cream pie for desert! Bliss~

Etta's @ Pike Place Market/ atmosphere & food is awesome. The staff that greets you at the door is friendly and accommodating. The wait staff disappointed. Slow to greet at the table on a somewhat busy Saturday afternoon. Food took 30 minutes/ plates were not cleared, waters not refilled. The bill had an automatic 20% gratuity added on & I don't feel the wait staff earned it at all. Maybe that is the point, they don't have to perform if its automatically given/expected.

After spending most of the late morning browsing through the Pike Place Market, my wife and I decided grab a bite to eat. Etta's was one of several highly rated restaurants close by. I made a reservation and we stopped by and seated right away. We were hoping to get an outside table which was open, but took the inside table by the window which was just as good. Great view for people watching.
They're a bit pricey on their menu and our waitress, Erin, informed us immediately that a 20% tip would be added to our bill automatically. I usually tip at least 20% when dining, but isn't a tip part of showing appreciation for your service? What if my service is poor? Do I get to deduct the gratuity? Why not just include the tip in the price of the meal? Seriously, $8.50 for a cup of chowder isn't cheap.
So--- for lunch, my wife had the Simple Greens salad while I had the cup of chowder as well as the fried oysters. The chowder was good drizzled with the green parsley oil and topped with bacon bits. The oysters were quite a bit too fried for my liking.
Total charge for salad, chowder, fried oysters, diet Coke and beer------ $60 for 2 people.
