Description: When stepping out of Etta’s front door to take in the grand parade cascading through the Pike Place Market, often, on a sunny day, the enormous vista of Mount Rainier looms in the distance. From this vantage point, people are loaded with market flowers, local farm goods and a growler of our local breweries best. Etta’s Big Mountain BBQ is a soul satisfying pit stop on any market journey. Cold draft beers, smoked meats, and warm hospitality all renew the market spirit enjoyed by so many, for so long. TD&Co. have been serving customers from all over the world out of these doors since 1984. Thank you for visiting the market, keeping one of the world’s great destinations active, alive and purposeful. As always, thank you for the support.

We were visiting friends in Seattle and they took us to Etta's after a tour of Pikes market. I had the seafood stew cooked in a Thai influenced broth which was flavorful but did not over power the fish. My husband had the seared Ahi Tuna and loved it. We both felt it was a little pricey but expected it because of the location.
While not extensive, they had a good wine list with options that complimented our meals.

You would expect that restaurants around Pike Place Market would be serving up a host a fresh local ingredients prepared in a unique style. We looked for a seafood restaurant to eat at and eventually settled on Etta's because it would take reservations. Other places we would have like to try we would have had to stand in line for 2 hours and that does not suit us.
Etta's has a nice location. Us and other diners noted that the shelf above the tables with decorative items on it was covered in at least an inch of dust.
I like food and trying things, but nothing on the menu stood out to me. I eventually settled on the fried oysters and french fries. I shared a bowl of chowder with my spouse - and it tasted very good, but was quite small in size. It came with lovely bread on the side. The soup and the bread was my favourite part.
The fries and breaded oysters were good, I wasn't disappointed, but again it wasn't the freshest meal I could have eaten in August at Pike Place Market.
The staff seemed nice, and were good at keeping our water glasses filled up.
I would recommend this place to families with children, who are not on a budget.

All the staff were friendly and helpful, and the interior was very nice indeed. We visited the restaurant after meeting one of Etta's employees on a bus; what an asset to her employer. She genuinely believed in the company's ethos of knowing where the ingredients for the food is sourced and using local produce. Whatever Etta pay her - double it. She is a tour de force in marketing!

I have no qualms about paying for good food, especially when I'm on holiday, but it was not to be found here. Very average fayre with a hefty price tag. Etta you are letting down your staff and your customers.

This place is often mentioned among the best of Seattle. I'm not sure I agree. I have eaten here a number of times, and have been impressed on occasion. My last stop was not one of them. The fish and chips were over fried in an oil that clearly had run its course. The fries were a joke, shoe string style that were over cooked. The clam chowder was awesome...except the drizzle of vegetable oil on top seemed unnecessary. They automatically add 20% gratuity to all orders. I think this added to the lack of attention from my server. In general, this place is a bit of a tourist trap.

We happened upon Etta's on our first day in Seattle, having arrived tired from our trip from New Jersey. We walked to Pike Place Market, looking for a place to eat, and there was Etta's. A wonderful discovery for us! I had the "Rub with Love" salmon that was amazing, together with delicious cornbread pudding. My friend had the True Cod Fish & Chips that was just as good...hard to decide which was better. On our second dinner there, I had the Dungeness Crab Cake - wonderful! Highly recommend this place for dinner, but they do also serve lunch.
