Description: When stepping out of Etta’s front door to take in the grand parade cascading through the Pike Place Market, often, on a sunny day, the enormous vista of Mount Rainier looms in the distance. From this vantage point, people are loaded with market flowers, local farm goods and a growler of our local breweries best. Etta’s Big Mountain BBQ is a soul satisfying pit stop on any market journey. Cold draft beers, smoked meats, and warm hospitality all renew the market spirit enjoyed by so many, for so long. TD&Co. have been serving customers from all over the world out of these doors since 1984. Thank you for visiting the market, keeping one of the world’s great destinations active, alive and purposeful. As always, thank you for the support.

My wife and I ate at Etta's for dinner. We had just had a fabulous lunch earlier in the day so it's not fair to say Etta's food wasn't good. It was good but we didn't think it was worth the price. On top of that the gratuity of 20% was automatically added to our bill. We knew this before ordering but in general I don't believe in this business decision. I am a gracious tipper, normally tipping 20% regardless of service provided however I don't like having this dictated to me. Along the Market there are too many dining choice for me to return to this restaurant. It was good food, just not where I want to spend my money in the future.

Etta's was highlighted by a guide on a tour we took, so we made a reservation and headed over for supper. The rubbed salmon was excellent and the presentation was nice, but it was a little pricey, although everything in Seattle seems a little pricey compared to Texas.

We stopped in here for a quick happy hour bite before another event. They actually call it "crabby hour" since it features so many crab dishes. We were only able to try two things- 4 fresh humboldt oysters and some king crab dip. This definitely is not a cheap happy hour stop- two drinks and from appetizers set us back $50- but it was good food. The humboldt oysters were particularly delicious and had a perfect mignonette to accompany them. No cocktail sauce to cover the delicate taste of the oysters as some places offer. We also had the crab dip. I thought it was a little underseasoned and a little thin- not a thick dip like I was expecting. People around us ordered other things that did look amazing, however. Note that there is an automatic 20% charge to your bill that they mention immediately when you sit down. Another wait staffer mentioned that additional tipping on top of this was appreciated (rather tacky, in my opinion) but our server did not mention this (and therefore we did tip additionally).

The clam chowder was delicious... Served with a crusty bread. It was a nice day so we sat outside. We started with banana bread which was so tasty!!

After nearly being trampled to death in Pike Place Market we needed sustenance. This place is busy but not insanely so and the food and service are excellent. We recommend the rose from Provence and the Croque Madame. The Fish and Chips too. They also have interesting hard ciders. A real nice farm (or ocean) to table place with a daily oysters on the half shell.
