Very easy going old favorite that oozes Seattle charm.

Hidden away above the crowds of Pike Market, Matt's is the perfect mid-shopping break to grab a small plate of the freshest Northwest fish, while being safely free of the normal 80's excesses of Northwest cuisine. Since its recent expansion your also guaranteed to find a table or a seat at the two bars, where the local wine list is also a welcome sight.

Service can be a little slow as they often seem understaffed, but that has its own way of adding to the charm as you watch the hectic schedule of the market's flying fish unfurl below.

“GET OUT”
Reviewed October 22, 2007

Food was good. Service has awful. Took to long to take our order and than when they delivered it she gave the wrongs orders to everyone. After we had just signed our bills we were asked to get out. People were waiting for the tables. We were going to leave anyway, we did not need to be treated like second class citizens. There were 7 of us and we are all in the hotel industry in Seattle. Will not recommend and not return.

“Never Been Treated This Badly”
Reviewed October 19, 2007

The service attitude was simply the most rude and unhelpful I have ever experienced. Two minutes after the check was signed a pony tailed server (Todd Perry) literally said "You Happy? Great! Now Leave!" This is the first time I have ever written a review on a restaurant and I am doing so because I am appalled by how I was treated in this place. The food was fine but the attitude of the entire staff seemed to be that they were doing us a favor just to let us in the door. There are many other reviews on The Stranger saying exactly the same thing so I am not alone here. I am also in the service industry and am usually quite forgiving when staff is stretched and overworked. That is not the problem here. I strongly urge you to spend your hard-earned dollars elsewhere.

“Amazing!”
Reviewed September 27, 2007

We visited Seattle last week for the 1st time and went to Matt's in the Market for lunch on a recommendation from one of the guys at the Fish Market. The restaurant has recently been remodeled & is larger than the original. It's located on the 3rd floor and there is no elevator.

My husband recognized Matt, the owner, from a Food Network feature they did on the restaurant. Matt was able to have the chef make us a delicious piece of salmon for lunch although it wasn't on the menu.

The restaurant is small with some tables near the bar + counter seating. Reservations are definitely recommended! We liked lunch so much that we decided to spend an extra night in Seattle and made a reservation for dinner that same night. We had a table near the door which suited us perfectly as we had our 6 mo. old baby in tow. She slept right through the jazz quartet that played during the evening. We'll be returning to Matt's on our next visit to Seattle!
