We went this past Friday evening, and thoroughly enjoyed the Pad Thai, the Tasty Eggplant, the Panang curry, and the Spicy Chili Tofu. Service was courteous and fast. Brown rice is exceptional and their offering of beers was fairly decent.

We stopped in to Tawon Thai at about 8:30pm on Christmas Eve and they were both open and welcoming! We were the only patrons and we were treated royally. It is one of our favorite restaurants in the Fremont Neighborhood and we were excited to try their new menu. Of course, they still have the best iced Thai Coffee anywhere, not to be missed even on a cold December night! We ordered 3 dishes family style. The new Crispy Chili Chicken is superb! It has a thin chili coating, not the usual deep fried chicken you find at other restaurants. It has just the right amount of spiciness, not too hot, not too mild. Served with Jasmine rice and vegetables, this would be plenty for one dinner. But we always order more so we can take it home for lunch the next day. The Pad Thai with pork and Pad Woon Sen with prawns are delicious at any time! We'll have to go back to try some of the other new dishes soon. The relaxing jazz music and friendly waitresses make it a place you will want to return to again and again!

This was suggested to us by a friend, and it was possibly the best meal we had in Seattle. Went for lunch, split a lunch special. Most incredible Pad Thai and Curry I've ever had-- and it was only $10 for two of us to split lunch. Wish we would have come for dinner again when we were even hungrier, or tried more appetizers. Amazing food.

We were trying to get to another Thai restaurant in the Fremont district, but the cab driver dropped us off at Tawon Thai. What a lucky break for us- we found the best Thai food in Seattle! And the best Thai Iced Coffee! We are regulars now, and we always start with their Thai Iced coffee, which is not too sweet, not to strong, just the right amount of cream! Appetizers are next, with an assortment of egg rolls to suite your taste. Then of course, the Phad Thai or Phad Woon Sen, both delicious and beautifully plated. One of their specialty dishes, the Crab Fried Rice is another favorite. They don't overspice the food, so a 3 star is hot but not overwhelming like at other Thai restaurants. If you aren't that adventurous, a 2 star has just a hint of heat. We always share a few dishes and there is always extra to take home. And to top off the meal a scoop or too of mango or coconut ice cream served in a charming glass dish.

The atmosphere is relaxing, with jazz music playing in the background. The staff is attentive and helpful. You can come as you are, or dress up for a more formal occasion and still feel comfortable. They are open late for night owls like us. The place is usually half empty, so there is plenty of privacy. But once people find out about this gem, it won't remain the best kept secret anymore!
