Description: When travelling, often the best restuarants are slightly off the beaten path. We've been named "Hidden Gem" by Seattle Magazine, not just for spectacular Italian Food but a gorgeous view of Downtown Seattle. Chef-owned, our casual little place is just 10 minutes from Downtown (just a quick exit from I-90 onto Rainier Ave S -- careful, the exit comes up FAST from downtown). Free Parking and a really cool Solstice Park (with sunset marker stones) just steps North of our building is the Cherry on top! Welcome!

We love the incrediably thoughtful and attentive but not intrusive service at this restaurant. They go the extra mile to anticipate and make your dining experience wonderful. For example, last nite they suggested we take home some extra pesto sauce and use it with our breakfast eggs, packaged it separately in a little container and made sure it wouldn't leak. This like something someone's caring mother would do!

The food is just the right combination of interesting and comforting flavors- delicious! The cozy but not crowded neighborhood bistro feel is just right. Love the view of the city skyline, too. This is the kind of place you can go to for a special meal, take guests or just come in after a tired work day. . .

This restaurant was recommended to us by our hosts at the Sleeping Bulldog, as well. We had the most amazing food and service and went back a second night during our stay. This is a small restaurant with an amazing view of the mountains and Seattle. The food is fresh and made to order. They did not skip a beat when my best friend asked for menu options because she is allergic to onions and garlic. Many options were presented. The wait staff was fun, helpful and most professional. The first night was a 3 hour dining experience. They even presented me with a special card for my birthday.
We will definitely be back and highly recommend That's Amore!

Seattle is of patchwork of neighborhoods, each with its own distinct identity and vibe, and many of these are home to local restaurants that generally fly under the tourist radar. To some degree, online review sites are changing this dynamic, so the best neighborhood restaurants, even those that are off the beaten track, are enjoying ever-wider patronage. One such restaurant is That’s Amore! Italian Café in Mount Baker.

Located about 3.5 miles southeast of downtown Seattle, and not on the way to anywhere, That’s Amore is not a place you’d find by accident. But people are finding it, because fully one-third of That’s Amore’s Trip Advisor reviews have been written by out-of-towners. And almost without exception, everyone loves this restaurant.

So do I. I am less impressed by the view than some reviewers- it’s a western vista that can only really be enjoyed from the few tables near the windows- but I am mightily impressed by the food. Served in a small, rustic dining room, the menu consists of simple country Italian dishes that are unpretentious, impeccably prepared, and absolutely delicious. Whether you choose something a bit adventurous like my favorite, the Wild Boar Ragu, or a more traditional dish, like Polpetta (Sicilian-style meatballs and spaghetti), you will not be disappointed. Add to this equation a well-constructed and reasonably priced wine list, and friendly, helpful service, and you have the makings of a genuinely pleasant dining experience.

That’s Amore is a gem, but it is tiny, so make reservations in advance (even on weekdays), and enjoy!

This excellent restaurant was recommended by my B&B hosts at the Sleeping Bulldog.
The window seat was reserved for me so I had a unbelievable view over Seattle while enjoying the most fantastic Italian meal. The service could not have been better and the waitress was stunning!!

We have been coming to this restaurant for many years because we love the food, view, and intimate atmosphere. But we will never return. We had a reservation, arrived on time, waited 20 minutes to be served, ordered appetizers ,waited..., ordered dinner...waited....ate...waited for plates to be removed...ordered port and desert... waited...were told "not to rush, but our table was needed for the next reservation"...waited...port and desert. When we left. 2:10 after our initial reservation, there was no one waiting to be seated. There are many restaurants in Seattle so. SKIP THIS ONE!
