We picked this restaurant for it's convenience to our hotel and due to the good reviews on TripAdvisor. Many people mentioned how great Luigi was. Luigi must have been off this Sunday evening. The starters were good. My wife had a pear, gorgonzola, walnut salad with a balsalmic vinegarette. It was very good. I had a bean and panchetta soup. It had a strange but agreeable flavor. Then the meal fell apart. Big time! The pork in my pork tenderloin saltimbocca was thinly sliced and overcooked to a hard, stiff plank of almost crunchy meat. The fennel in the fennel olive salad accompanying my disth had no taste at all, not even a hint of anise. My wife's Manila clams with linguini and cherry tomatoes, did not use cherry tomatoes, but chopped up tomatoes, probably plum tomatoes. The sauce on her dish lacked the acidity one would expect to counter the clams. The dish just tasted poorly executed. The garlic bread was somewhat charred from a flame (?). We left with most of our dinners not eaten and just chalked it up to a very bad night at a restaurant that most people seem to like. I will go elsewhwere next time.

We talked in after standing on the street (4 of us) checking trip advisor and other sites. They all had good reviews so we went in. Staff was outstanding and nice. We were trying to decide on dinner, so the owner came table side, told us to trust him and brought us what he wanted to make. Started off with frog legs (deep fried verses sauteed which I prefer), bread, two kinds of thin meats, a strawberry, cheese and basalmic vinager plate that was really excellent, pasta with clams and pasta with mushroom cause, then New York steak cooked on bed of mushrooms. All was served family style and all 4 of use were full and happy. 4.85 out of five. Would have given 5 if the frog legs were not so dry. Great way to have dinner with friends!

This is a very romantic spot and the food was good but surprised at the portions and that they charge you for the bread and for extra marinara. Other than that they had friendly service.

Absolutely fabulicious dinner with all kinds of special garnishes and gastonomic surprises. We've been long time fans of Luigi and he is one more reason to experience this restaurant. The food and ambience are both wonderful. The setting is in one of the historic buildings in Pioneer Square which will be specially preserved during the construction of the tunnel. It is cozy and intimate. The price was so reasonable (and portions are generous) we had to check the bill twice.
