After enjoying the many cool shops and galleries in Wallingford Center, check out the Indian restaurant downstairs. Decent service and great food. A full Indian menu with lots of chicken, lamb, and vegetarian dishes. Look to the back of the menu for a full organic menu as well. Plenty of gluten-free options. Don't miss the Thali platters that provide a sampling of options.
Unlike many Indian restaurants in North America these days, Chutney's is NOT just a buffet, and dishes there include sides of vegetables and rice with every dish. The veggies are actually a cool and exotic feature here. All dishes strike me as authentic (I'm no expert) but with spice levels toned down to the North American palette. Their 4 or 5 level spicing may be what others would call "normal." We were particularly happy with the mango chicken (order it spicy!) and lamb biryani.
A very pleasant environment with the exception of 2 non-stop TV screens hanging over the bar. If you find this distracting, just ask for one of the tables out of view of the screens. Chutneys stays open after the rest of Wallingford Center closes.
