Seriously, the oysters are so fresh you would think they were plucked from the ocean just minutes ago.

This operation is a bit chaotic; but, in a good way. If you have the oyster stew or chowder du jour, you serve yourself...otherwise a server attends to you.

The oyster stew was not as flavorful as I would have hoped for and came across somewhat diluted. Though it did have a powerful kick of pepper.

There is a limited selection of beers, ciders and wines that have been curated to accompany the oysters.

Oysters mame...just the oysters!

This place bills themselves as a seafood deli - which I concur with. Like others have said - its small and a market first and foremost but any place that has a line with locals is a good bet in my book. Fresh is the name of the game here and they do not disappoint - even at the end of the day when stock is running on the low side. Nice selection of beers - red wine drinkers may be out of luck as they only sell white wines. Service is not really attentive, but they have a small staff with lots to do and they are really friendly. If you are buying seafood to go, suggest making a run to the Melrose Market to pick up wine, veggies, and meats and cheese from Calf and Kid for a great experience.

I had six different types of oysters, my favorite was the Olympia Oysters. They are very small but very tasty. The geoduck sashimi was delicious and the chowder was also good, but the bread that you help yourself was awesome. I could just eat the bread all day long. I would go back to this place and have more oysters.

The small pacific oysters are perfectly briney and sweet. The shioiku oysters are are excellent. We started with a dozen of each, and finished with a steamed dungeness crab that was sweet and suculent, served with the most delicious crab fat broth, killer! An awesome lunch and a great time for out of towners. A nice selection of wine and beer rounds out the menu. The setting is fun, lively and you know the seafood is fresh. Great service, great meal, and an even better time. I can't wait for the return.

After 6 days of staying a block from the food market mecca of Pikes Place, we ventured out of our 'hood to Melrose Market. It did not have the carnival atmosphere of the other market, rather welcome normalcy where everyday people go to buy good food. Very casual, order at the counter for one of the two soups or stews available or fresh oysters. FRESH oysters. This is the starting point for some many of Seattle's oyster and fish purveyors, live tanks for variety of shellfish. The oyster stew was perfection, my partner ate in reverent silence his dozen oysters, with the occasional sigh, yum and OMG.
Nothing fancy, nor decor theme. Just simply the freshest available on land.
