Amid the new high rises in South Lake Union, one of the last houses has been saved and turned into the Row House Cafe. The atmosphere is very, very laid back. When I recently went for brunch the waitress brought a jar of cold water, but didn't pour it for us. My orange juice was a plastic bottle of Tropicana. The food was pretty good. The sausage had a bit of a tough skin on it. The Frittata I had was good. The cheesy grits are to die for! On another day, my husband and I went for dinner and both had the barbequed shrimp with baked polenta and it was delicious! The house tea is a special herbal blend with a touch of cinnamon and it is fantastic! I also had the panna cotta for dessert and it was very good. The service was great and the prices are reasonable. There is an issue with the chairs and tables being old and rickety and there were flies in the hallway since the back door to the patio was open. If you can overlook that and really want to experience a Seattle hipster scene complete with original albeit strange art on the walls, this is the place to go!
