We spent a night at the Panama Hotel, mainly for the convenience to Safeco Field.
The Seattle Downtown area can be very costly for hotels, so the Panama is a relatively inexpensive place to stay. We figured we could handle the shared bathroom situation for one night. The room itself is basic but clean and included a sink in the corner. The bed was very small and squeaky, and the seemingly broken springs suggested that it had long-since passed its best-before date. The squeaky theme continued with the door to the toilet. I was sure I had woken up the entire floor early in the morning when I opened the men's room door. And my wife wasn't very comfortable using the ladies' room with a door that didn't lock.
The location is very convenient to Amtrak and the football and baseball stadiums. Jan, the owner, and her staff were friendly and helpful. We left early in the morning, before breakfast was served, so I am unable to comment on that.
As I mentioned, the cost is very reasonable compared to other hotels in the Seattle City Centre. But frankly, you shouldn't have to pay $100 to share a bathroom.
If you are looking for a unique and historic experience, this doesn't really deliver. It's really just an old place to spend the night.
If you don't mind sacrificing amenities, such as a private bathroom and a TV, in exchange for a convenient downtown location, then The Panama Hotel is an acceptable place to stay.
