“Great location, staff and room!”
Reviewed September 15, 2013

We stayed at the Fairmont Olympic for a few days, prior to a cruise. We were interested in going to the Pike Place Market and the hotel was just about a 5-10 minute walk, so perfect. The hotel is lovely and the bed was especially comfortable! The staff was friendly and helpful. There are tons of great restaurants within walking distance and in the market itself. We walked to the monorail, which will take you to the Space Needle and the Chihuly Museum - definitely worth seeing. Great city, tons to do, great restaurants and we'll definitely return - and will definitely stay at this wonderful hotel!!

The Fairmont Olympic has always been a favorite place for us to get away to for 20 years. This time we were disappointed in the service at the front desk and in the cleanliness of our room. We found hair in the shower when we first arrived. When we reported this to the front desk as we were leaving, the check-in clerk seemed to not be concerned.
We had a great anniversary dinner in the Georgian room and thoroughly enjoyed its ambience.

I read the reviews before I booked the room, but I was more impressed by the Fairmont brand, and ignored the bad/poor reviews. Unfortunately, my room was a huge disappointment, especially for the amount the hotel charges; the room had a soiled carpet, a mildew odor that eventually made me sick (runny nose, headache, coughing), which was probably due to the old carpet and air conditioner. The weather was warm, but the air conditioner system is old and not regularly cleaned because a mildew odor was emitted while the conditioner was on. I finally turned it off. The water pressure was abysmal. The positives: the in-dining/room service and house keeping staff were outstanding, as was the concierge service. The location is great, within walking distance to many tourist sites, good restaurants, retail shops, etc. The downtown area is noisy (sirens day and night) and polluted (lots of cars going in and out of the many huge parking structures in the area). The in-dining experience was fine, but too expensive. Definitely not a 4/5 star hotel.

When we are in Seattle this is our Go To hotel!!!! Hotel is in a great location. Check out the Purple Onion Restaurant and the Capital Grill!! Again one of my favorite things about Fairmont is the car service!! They arranged for us to be dropped off at Safeco for a ball game and dropped off at the Train Station. Great Service from all the staff

We stayed at the Olympic one night after a gorgeous trip to Olympic National Park, and it was a luxurious ending to our outdoors-y vacation in the Pacific Northwest.

Pros:
The room was gorgeous. We got an Executive Suite which was a nice size, comprised of a sitting room and a bedroom separated by a set of French doors. All the finishes are quite luxurious, in a classic (as opposed to modern, trendy) sort of way.he

The fitness/pool area had a fair variety of cardio machines, weight training equipment, and cute extras like a sauna and a whirlpool. You can also order food to be delivered to the pool area. We didn't actually do this, but what a great idea.

The location was central: a block (uphill) from the light rail to the airport, a couple of blocks to Pike Place.

The common areas: one thing Fairmont does extremely well is their lobby/common areas. Just breathtaking--when you walk in, it's almost like you immediately exhale, and breathe in the opulence.

Cons:
Parking: The only parking I'm aware of is the $45/day valet service.

Ventilation: Like most of their older properties, the Olympic does not have a ventilation system in the bathrooms.

The Olympic had that old charm that is missing in most of the new hotels, the grand entrance and the 2 beautiful foyers are stunning and very wellcoming

At the end of August we stayed at the Fairmont Olympic for a week. It was one of the best experiences we had at the Fairmont Hotel Chain.
From the manager to the the the room service; from the concierge to the chamber maids' manager; from the lobby to the rooms, every thing and everyone was top notch.

Everyone at the hotel made us feeling at home, their customer services was excellent and we sincerely do recommend this hotel to everyone that goes to Seattle

Room Tip: The executive suites on the 11th floor are excellent and very well equiped

The Fairmont very much reminded us of The Drake in Chicago, very grand and ornate. We had two stays during our trip the first one for 5 days. Our room on the 3rd floor was incredibly small and old fashioned, I was quite disappointed. When we returned our room was on the 11th floor and was so much better, bigger and lighter in decor. During our first stay we very much enjoyed the variety of the Olympic breakfast, we returned a week later to find it had all changed with no hot buffet options and a total let down for our last morning in Seattle.
The concierge and valet services were top notch and the bar/ restaurant really great. The biggest disappointment for us was the lack of free wifi - needless to say we had to enjoy several Starbucks coffees!

Room Tip: Rooms on the 11th floor are bigger - we didn't have a nice view in either room
