Went to Seattle to see Porgy & Bess. Very well done and such a beautiful venue. We were in the balcony about 5 rows back and had a wonderful view of the performance.

We went back to the 5th Avenue Theater last week for a performance by Lily Tomlin. She was hilarious with a mixture of memorable video clips and new material including some updated takes on characters we know and love.

But it was just as fun to go to the 5th Avenue Theater. This masterpiece was built in the days of vaudeville and is practically worth the price of admission. It has been maintained beautifully and it is like walking back in time to sit in this Chinese-inspired Seattle landmark. They don't build them like this anymore. If you are interested in this historic theater, they offer tours one day a week (currently listed as free on their website).

Staff are helpful and courteous and all the productions we have attended have been high quality. The main floor is accessible to those with limited mobility and there is a small restroom on that floor. There is a larger restroom on the mezzanine accessible by the grand stair case in the lobby. Like most older buildings these facilities are limited and extremely busy at intermissions.

If you purchase tickets on line, you can add parking at one of several garages on the ticket order and it may be less than you would pay if you drive in. Parking at the Hilton Hotel on 6th Avenue has underground access to the 5th Ave Theater from the garage. Expect a wait at the elevators when returning to the garage.

We love this theater. It is like walking back in time. The decor is fabulous, the seating comfortable and acoustics is great. We have had seats in many locations and have never been disappointed.

While in Seattle for a few days, we wanted to take in some local theater. "Room with a View" was playing - a new musical. Theater itself is a beautiful venue; but the staging and quality of the performance were outstanding. Very glad we went.
