“Good Location & Friendly”
Reviewed July 31, 2013

The only game in town in West Seattle, the Grove is a (relatively) budget friendly option for the city. Rooms are average, but it is walking distance to the shopping/dining area and the service is friendly. Continental breakfast was above average. Enjoyed our stay.

The Grove sits on a quiet street, by Seattle standards, with free self-parking. For the city mouse it is maybe ten miles from there across a short bridge to the Mariner's stadium, the soccer/football stadium, the big ferries, the cruise ships, the Space Needle, and Pike Place, Belltown and Lower Queen Ann eating and drinking . For the country mouse it is a few blocks from the road to the Fauntleroy Ferry and a short boat ride to the peninsula . The rooms are small 1960 motel room size and shape. But they are very clean with upscale appointments. A very good place to rest and freshen up for 1/3 to 1/2 the price of something ten minutes away where you take your life in your hands and worry about your car all night.

I am glad The Grove was the right lodging choice for you while in Seattle. As you mentioned, we are a nicely renovated motor inn. No frills, neat and clean rooms, great guest service and a great location close enough to Seattle but not right in the heart of downtown.
Thank you for your wonderful review, and we hope to see you soon.

The Grove is a great location to explore Seattle in summer, conveniently located between downtown and Alki Beach in West Seattle.

The staff was extremely nice, we felt welcome from the very first minute. Parking is free, as is cable TV and breakfast with a nice selection of healthy and unhealthy food. It took us only a couple of minutes by car to Alki Beach on a nice day and approximately 10 minutes with the C line rapid bus transit to downtown with stops close to the major sights (Pioneer Square, Pike St, and Seattle Center). Oh, and it took us only a couple of minutes to get here from the airport!

It's a great location we'll certainly get back to if we ever get back to Seattle.

Thank you for your wonderful comments regarding your visit to The Grove. Even though we are a nicely renovated motor inn, we do offer a great location, clean rooms and fantastic guest service to our guests. If you are looking for a great low cost alternative to the downtown Seattle hotels but still want to be close, The Grove is a good choice.
We look forward to seeing you again.

The room was clean and reasonable size but it warmed quickly without having the window shaker running all the time. The bathroom is incredibly small. The area is light industrial. There are not enough parking spots if you come in late. If you angle park on the road make sure you back in or get a ticket. I did not like that they took a photocopy of my drivers licence and AMA card in this age of identity theft
Breakfast was ok.

Thank you for taking the time to write a review about your stay at The Grove. I am glad you had a pleasant stay despite some of the inconveniences you listed in your note. Parking during summer season can on occasion be a bit of a problem. We are in the process of trying to secure a lot across the street to handle some of the overflow. It's not going to be a perfect solution, but should help to avoid parking on the street. I also have changed our policy regarding making a copy of drivers licenses or other identification documents. Once we verify your information, that's all we really need.
We do have some other units with bathrooms that are larger than the one you were in. Please let us know when making another reservation and we will be happy to block you in one of those units.
Thank you again for your feedback, and we hope to see you again soon.

Easy access to all that Seattle has to offer, but nicely located in the quieter West Seattle neighborhood. There's enough to do there alone to keep you busy--Alki Beach, parks, neighborhood bars and restaurants--but with only 5-15 minutes in the car you can access any other Seattle locales. Nice room, nice breakfast spread, and a good deal!

Staying at the Grove is a little like being in a John Waters movie - it's a little off the beaten path but in a hip way. Let me say first off what it's not. It's not in downtown Seattle so, if you need to be there, it's probably best NOT to stay here. BUT if you can deal with that, then this is a great find. It's inexpensive, has a great continental breakfast free wireless and parking and a very helpful staff. In other words, it has all the good trappings of a small hotel. it's not fancy but it's easy and the rooms are clean and good sized. A short walk away are some cool stores, shops and restaurants. across the street is a free shuttle that takes you down to the waterfront where, for $4, you can hop a ferry direct to the Seattle waterfront and downtown. I would definitely stay here again.

Thank you for your great description of what The Grove west Seattle Inn really is. You pointed out all of the reasons that we are becoming very popular as an inexpensive lodging choice in Seattle. Still close enough to downtown, but far enough away from the traffic and hustle and bustle. We do offer some great shops and eateries here in West Seattle, so you never have to leave if you choose not to. We very much hope to have you back as a guest soon!

The Grove is great. It is right on the public transportation line , which Seattle does very well. The rooms are updated and air conditioned. ( not always an issue in Seattle but nice to have when it does get hot) The bathrooms are good sized and updated also. The complementary breakfast is one of the best I have had for a long time. We will definitely be back !

Room Tip: We choose a room around the side on the first floor. It was off the Main Street but there was an act...
