“Good Hotel, Location and Service”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 17, 2011

Stayed at the hotel for 6 nights. A convention was nearby and hotel was very well located to easily walk to the convention. Check in went fine. As I got off the elevator, I heard a VERY LOUD party going on in one of the rooms next to mine. I first called the front desk and told them I wanted to move but was told there weren't any rooms I could move to. I then told them about the party and was promised security would take care of it. I can tell you 2 minutes later, security was pounding on their door and told them they had 3 minutes to clear out and be quiet. I heard not a sound from them after that. Great service to your security team!!!!

Room has very nice layout. Bathrooms are huge with a nice tub separate from large shower and LOADS of mirror space.

Room service was very timely.

Nice options connected with the hotel. Ate at Blue C Sushi which was really nice to have a conveyer belt with Sushi coming by that you could select any plate that looked good. Food was fresh and loads of options. Nice drinks too.

I would recommend this hotel if you have a convention in the area. Good service, good location and very comfortable rooms.

Grand Hyatt Seattle. 4 days. Aug 2011. Deluxe King Club. $250-$300 a night.

1- East airport access by light rail. Landed at SEA 1045AM, in hotel room by noon. Train took 45 minutes. Get out at Westlake station, last stop, 1 block from hotel. $2.75 per person.

2- Hotel location is AAA, in downtown, surrounded by shops, restaurants, movie houses, shopping centers, it is like living in an upscale shopping center, from Tiffany to H&M, Forever 21, Gameworks, Niketown, they go on for 20 blocks of nonstop shopping and eating, Seattle has short blocks, easy to walk flat land.

3- Décor is good 5 Stars, usual Grand Hyatt wood, marble and carpet. Large bright room with sofa and generous space, big bathroom, marble and glass. Water pressure is too weak, toilet paper is the cheapest thinnest type. Elevators fast and not crowded.

4- Internet is $9.95 a day or $14.95 for faster premium. Free internet in Club lounge.

5- Club Lounge is 3 stars poor, not worthy of GRAND in the hotel name. The décor is nice usual Grand Hyatt, but no espresso or cappuccino served nor DIY machine. Coffee is from pot or an antique VERY SLOW DIY coffee machine that makes strange noise. Espresso or cappuccino are most basic in all Hyatt and Business class lounges, how can they skip that? Continental breakfast and afternoon snacks are few and low quality on a tight 3’x3” small counter, they are the worst among all the Hyatt hotels, more on the level of a Hampton motel standards, less than or Embassy suites. How can they be so cheap on the best customers? Only 1 staff in lounge. Hotel general manager should be transferred to a motel to learn the business of hospitality.

6- Alternatives. Sheraton across the street is without such shortcomings, $100 less. Also next doors are 2 cheaper older hotels, Paramount and Roosevelt, at half the prices or less. There are plenty of restaurants and Starbucks on the blocks.

7- Hotel itself is fine usual Grand Hyatt, but this is the worst and cheapest in terms of Club lounge services. Take off the GRAND from the name, get a real professional Hyatt class manager. Staff is fine, hardly see any anyway.

Wonderful hotel, very clean, no complaints except no free WiFi. Amazed that I can get free Wifi at the Motel 6 in Dalton, Georgia but must pay or go to the lobby Srarbucks at the $170/night Grand Hyatt.

Spotlessly clean, helpful and knowledgeable concierge, valet kind enough to store our luggage for 10 hours, and somewhat easy to find.

We were upgraded to a corner suite, and it was great. Easy walking distance to Pikes Market. Cab fare to space needle and good resturants under $10.00.

I can say the location on Pine Street is terrific. The layout of the corner room is excellent as well as the bathroom...however the hotel is so sorely in need of refurbishing that it is shameful. Add to that I had to ask for the stained carpet to be vacuumed and dirty coffee cups to be removed from what was supposed to be a cleaned room. In this day and age not having free internet is ridiculous, however when we went into the business center even one of the two computers was broken. I would hesitate now to go to any Grand Hyatt after the experience with the Seattle hotel.

Room Tip: The corner room is like a suite...ask for it on an upgrade

We threw down for a water view room on an upper floor and the view was in fact spectacular and the elevators sufficiently zippy so we could jet down to the 4th floor for the 180 degree sauna (is that even safe??) as needed. With this came a good self-service breakfast on the 'club floor' with lox, good coffee, juices, etc. The room wasn't as spacious as ideal and IIRC the bathroom didn't have a bathtub, which I prefer, but the bed was very comfortable, the location just about perfect, and the decor modern without trying too hard. All this for $300/night including taxes and self-service parking. Not cheap, but we found that we were able to see what we wanted from Seattle itself in 2 nights and being centrally located was worth the marginal expense.

My wife and I stayed three nights at the Grand Hyatt in Seattle on a "weekend get-away." The staff was helpful and courteous. The room featured a spacious walk-in shower and over-sized bathtub with plenty of light for reading while in a soak. We didn't eat at the hotel's main restaurant -- but used the deli & coffeeshop for very acceptable breakfasts "on the go." The hotel is centrally located and convenient to public transportation.
