The Grand Hyatt was a great place to stay. The staff at the hotel was very helpful and pleasant. Check in was easy. They could point you in the right direction and supply you with an easy to read map. They will make reservations for you and offer suggestions for places to eat. The rooms were great- clean, roomy, and had lots of neat features like a button to draw the shades, a separate bath and shower, and a lighted closet with an in-room safe. You have access to a computer in the lobby (to all the airlines) so you can get your boarding passes before leaving the hotel.
It is conveniently located in the downtown area. You can take the light rail from SeaTac to the Westlake Station and then walk for only about three blocks to get to the hotel. The Westlake Station is also where you can catch the monorail to the Seattle Center where the Space Needle is located along with several other interesting sites. You are about seven blocks from the Pike Place Market also and from there easy access to the waterfront. If you want to visit the Pioneer Square area, you can hop on the light rail and be there in minutes.
In a three block radius you can find two shopping centers, the bookstores Borders and Barnes and Noble, and, of course, a Starbuck's on about every corner.
There's a lot to see and do in Seattle. We had a CityPass (online) that made it easier to have tickets for several places. We would definitely suggest you do the Underground tour in Pioneer Square. We walked to most of the places. Be prepared for walking on the incline, especially if you go to Capital Hill to find The Elliott Bay Bookstore which has recently moved into the area.
You might want to bring a jacket as the high temperature was 77 degrees in the middle of July.

My wife and I had occasion to stay at the Hyatt for our honeymoon. The hotel is centrally located to shopping, sights and the suburbs, where some of Seattle's hidden gems lie! The hotel's common areas are modern, clean and very tasteful. The staff are very attentive and friendly. The rooms are comfortable and well-appointed. The bathrooms are probably the best I've ever seen in a hotel, bar-none! Now for the not-so-good.... I hope you like a FIRM bed! Because that's what you'll get at the Grand Hyatt. And if there's one thing that ticks me off about 4 star hotels? It's when they nickle and dime you to death! $41 a day for valet parking? OK... But, you can park yourself for $30. Internet access will run you $10 a day for EACH DEVICE!!!! Pack a porta-router! Complimentary water? Forget it! A fridge to put water or anything else you buy in? No way. Unless you phone the front desk and ask them to bring one up to your room for an extra charge! The fridge in your room is solely devoted to the 'mini-bar'. Put anything in that fridge and your tab will swell by $10....

Room Tip: Use Priceline's Name-Your-Own-Price!

I stayed at the Grand Hyatt Seattle early March on a business trip. It was my first time visiting Seattle and I found the location to be very convienent for both business and pleasure. The hotel itself was very large and clean - and I always found the receptionists in the lobby to be very kind and accommodating. Since this was my first trip traveling alone, I had a lot of questions about directions/my room/places to see and the staff was more than helpful. One evening I had a problem with my hotel door/lock and the staff sent a manager up to make sure everything was okay.

The hotel room was very clean - the room appeared to have more modern furniture/bedding and the bed was very comfortable. The bathroom was large - with a huge soaking tub and lovely marble shower. I was always given extra toiletries and the housekeeping was on point.

The hotel is within walking distance to shopping, the famous Pike Place Market (about 7 or 9 blocks away), and very close to the Convention Center (where I had workshops for the week). As for restaurants nearby - there is a Cheesecake Factory, Daily Grill and small coffee/sandwich shops for a quick bite to eat. I would definitely book the Grand Hyatt again!

Room Tip: Ask for a higher floor to get a better view of the city!

If you are a couple get the corner King, It's like a suite. The location is perfect, the rooms are large, clean, and the service is very good. We checked out the Red Lion and the Marriott, and thought this was definitely a step up.
Get the City Pass, and use it for the STD 4 or 5 museums/sites, and don't miss the Argossy Harbor tour which is part of the package. We ate Oysters at Elliots..a must!! And eat the SeaFeast at the Crab Pot where they dump a couple pounds of shell fish/corn etc. on the table which is cooked and seasoned perfectly while you look at over the harbor. Was delicious. Also don't miss the chowder in the market, may be the best I've ever had....does it sound like I travel to eat? Oh yeah this was a hotel review ..the Hotel was perfect....walked to EVERYTHING, ( including the best Pizza in Seattle (Serious Pizza) and the transportation in the city if you need it is simple.

My wife and I recently spent a night at this hotel. What a great hotel and the location is perfect if you want to be downtown seattle in the heart of things. From the moment you step in you know you are staying at a professionally run hotel. Everything works well and the rooms are great.

I am more accustomed to staying at Park Place Hyatt's than Grand Hyatt's so I had to adjust my expectations. With that said, the lobby is nicely designed as are the rooms. But half of the hotel has bad views regardless of what floor you are on. A few times we requested extra towels and a few other items like laundry service and each time the staff promptly helped. That was appreciated. So was the quick check in. The rooms are a little tight but the furniture, especially the bed was comfortable. The towels in the bathroom do not know the meaning of soft and that was a bit disappointing. I am highly attuned to smells and the room was overwhelmingly fragrant upon arrival. This is something that I could have done without. As is the ridiculous fee for the wi-fi. In this day & age it is insulting when a hotel charges for this service. It feels like they ought to charge to use the alarm clock while they are at it. If it were not for the Internet charge I would give this hotel a 4-star rating. But the charge feels like a thorn in my side so they get a 3-star rating.

Room Tip: ask for a city view on an upper floor

I found my experience while staying at the Grand Hyatt Seattle simply pleasant. The check-in process was smooth even after arriving late. I typically don't order room service because of cost and food quality. In this case food quality was not an issue. it was actually good.
