“Nice way to enjoy the waters of Seattle, just dont order food or drinks.”

Queen of Seattle Paddle Wheel Cruises
Reviewed September 4, 2012

This was our first time taking the paddle wheel cruise. It was perfect day to sit outside on the deck, taking in the history of the city as narrated by the crew. The first have we enjoyed the outside decks, then at the Ballard Locks we went in to have lunch ( giving us an hour to enjoy our meal). There was one other couple in the dining area. We ordered fish and chips, and two coffee's with cream. We sat and waited for 40 minutes, the wait person told the other couple they ran out of clam chowder, and needed to order another item. 10 minutes to docking we got our food, but no coffee, we asked our wait person, and he said he would bring it. We finished our meal quickly due to getting ready to dock when he came back with one coffee and no cream! I reminded him that we ordered two coffees with cream so he got the second cup as we were pulling into our slip, still no cream. When asked about the cream he said they ran out! This was the first of two cruises for the holiday weekend, and the boat had maybe 50 people, or about half capacity, and they were already out of clam chowder, and coffee cream!

I would do the cruise again, and would recomend it to anyone, just dont waste your time trying to eat, and have a drink, not worth the agony!

We enjoyed the boat ride on Lake Union and down the ship canal. It was a beautiful afternoon and was fun way to spend a summer afternoon in the city. Enjoyed the perspective of seeing the city from the lake- especially all of the houseboats. I would recommend you get there early to get towards front of the line to get a good seat. Entertainment was little cheesy but we just sat outside on the deck the whole tour and enjoyed the scenery and looking at all the other boats out on the lake.

We purchased Groupons for our visit to Seattle, booked our tour and the day before it was cancelled due to mechanical issues. I understand I can't exactly ride on a broken boat but it left us high and dry for the tour we anticipated. We could have called them but we were only in the city for three days. Poor planning on our part...I guess.

Last April I bought 4 Groupons anticipating a birthday celebration for a friend visiting from New York Aug. 19. I made the reservation Aug. 13, paid an additional fee, received a confirmation email and brought our visitors to the dock 30 minutes prior to boarding time.

We waited, and waited. No boat. We finally asked the Ice Cream Boat staff where the Queen docked......they told us that the Queen had mechanical difficulties and had not been in operation for more than 2 weeks!

No email, no phone call, no Queen staff to inform us, no signage....no cruise.

A great way to spend a couple of hours on Lake Union. The guide knew loads of information about the surrounding area. Most people seem to book online, but you can just turn up and buy tickets on the day.

A very grand way to travel across Lake Union, all ages seemed to enjoy themselves. Seating available inside and outside, although you might want to join the queue early to get the best seats in the house!
