Owner description: Explore Seattle the way it’s meant to be viewed–from the water. We offer kayak and paddle board rentals March through October. Embark from beautiful Portage Bay explore Seattle’s diverse and vibrant house boat community. Cross the Montlake Cut to drift among herons and turtles in the serene Washington Park Arboretum. Or, sail under the freeway bridge toward Gasworks Park for beautiful views of the Seattle skyline. After your adventure is done, top it all off with margaritas and delicious Mexican food from upstairs. Kayaks, food and ambience may just be the best way to explore Seattle.

“On a warm Seattle day, this is great.”
Reviewed May 13, 2012

AVPC does a fabulous job getting one on the water to either kayak or paddle board. On Sat. May 12, our son invited my wife and I to go kayaking as a Mother's Day present. Being one of the first truly warm days this spring, the wait was just over 45 min., but once on the water, who cares. The dock is located in Portage Bay, so you are 1/2 way between Lake WA and Lake Union. We chose to go to Lake Union as there was a quite a bit of boat traffic and the Mountlake Cut can get congested and choppy. If you stick around Portage Bay or venture to Lake Union, be sure to take a look at the collection of house boats, something unique to Seattle. If you do go towards Lake Union, look for the house boat featured in the movie Sleepless in Seattle, it is located on the south shore, opposite Gas Works Park. When you decide to try this Seattle attraction out, you might wish to bring a change of clothes, as more likely than not you will be splashed.

“A local secret!”
Reviewed April 9, 2012

Really great Mexican food and drink with a salsa bar! There is not one thing I have tried that I wasn't crazy about! I like to walk down to the dock and check out the water scene on a sunny day, but LOVE sitting out on the windowed porch on a rainy, stormy day! So NOT your typical Mexican cafe food! My fav is the Boniato Tacos. I have a vegetarian son and a meat loving kid as well as a Marguerita swilling husband and everyone leaves happy. Especially the boss, who ends of paying, which is not such a painful experience here! Take out window for luch is also a must do, just too busy to sit inside and really DO lunch? Grab something at the window, and a horchata, and sit where you can wolf your lunch, watching kayakers who must have a longer lunch hour than you do! If it's sunny the cinco de mayo crowd is pretty formidable! This place feels so very Seattle, Mexican food style!

“Great food, amazing views”
Reviewed April 2, 2012

Good vegetarian options, incredible margaritas and after lunch or dinner you can melt your calories away with a kayak rental downstairs. Good rates, easy access, waiting times easily dealt by waiting at the with a drink upstairs. Great way to enjoy the sun in Seattle.

“Great Deck on Lake Union”
Reviewed March 27, 2012

Great food, several self serve salsas to choose from, Beautiful views from the large deck. Place gets VERY busy. Very casual. You order you food from a walk up window and they bring it to your table.

“Great place, whether paddling, dining or both”
Reviewed March 16, 2012

Is this a kayak rental place? Is it a laid back south-of-the-border cantina? Why not both? Food is great, with an ample salsa bar and decent prices. They also rent quality kayaks from the lower level for outings on Portage Bay and Lake Union. Beware of the potential for long lines on nice weekend days though.
