I'm not usually a fan of B&B's, but 9 Cranes Inn may convert me; Phinney Ridge is a great area, full of restaurants and parks, close to the zoo, and easy to come and go off the highways. And this Inn is not only spotless and well run, but is really comfortable and quiet, and the innkeeper, Shelley, has thought of just about everything to meet guests' needs. She wants you to check in when she's there and available to show you around, but there is a "plan B" in case you're arriving late. There are 4 rooms -- one on the top level, 2 on the 2nd floor, and 1 on the first floor. The descriptions of the rooms on the website are accurate. Beds are very comfortable, with plenty of pillows, and there is a good supply of towels. I also loved the fact (trivial but important) that the toilet paper is two-ply and soft, not "el cheapo" paper. Hooray! Breakfast, served between 8 and 9:30 (with alternate plans available for those who need to leave early), was interesting and delicious, and there is good snack food available 24/7, along with a coffee maker in the "guest lounge" on the second floor. Good wi-fi AND a guest computer in case you travel without yours. It's on a nice quiet street, so even with windows open on a pleasant Summer evening, there was little road noise or human noise to interfere with sleep. We stay often for a night or two in Seattle; we'll stay here again.
