“Way beyond expectations”
Reviewed September 1, 2012

I'm not usually a fan of B&B's, but 9 Cranes Inn may convert me; Phinney Ridge is a great area, full of restaurants and parks, close to the zoo, and easy to come and go off the highways. And this Inn is not only spotless and well run, but is really comfortable and quiet, and the innkeeper, Shelley, has thought of just about everything to meet guests' needs. She wants you to check in when she's there and available to show you around, but there is a "plan B" in case you're arriving late. There are 4 rooms -- one on the top level, 2 on the 2nd floor, and 1 on the first floor. The descriptions of the rooms on the website are accurate. Beds are very comfortable, with plenty of pillows, and there is a good supply of towels. I also loved the fact (trivial but important) that the toilet paper is two-ply and soft, not "el cheapo" paper. Hooray! Breakfast, served between 8 and 9:30 (with alternate plans available for those who need to leave early), was interesting and delicious, and there is good snack food available 24/7, along with a coffee maker in the "guest lounge" on the second floor. Good wi-fi AND a guest computer in case you travel without yours. It's on a nice quiet street, so even with windows open on a pleasant Summer evening, there was little road noise or human noise to interfere with sleep. We stay often for a night or two in Seattle; we'll stay here again.

Room Tip: Our room was one of the smaller rooms, but had plenty of space and storage and seating. I don't...

The accomodations and service at 9 Cranes exceeded my expectations and raised the bar for B&Bs. Not only did my room offer a comfortable bed, bath, and sitting room, but it was also beautifully and tastefully decorated.

My travel plans required me to check out in the wee hours of the morning, and the purveyors went out of their way to pack me an excellent breakfast of fresh fruits and homemade pastries, awaiting me when I awoke.

Thank you, 9 Cranes Inn! Until next time...

This was our first time at 9 Cranes Inn - luxurious room with all the niceties (bath salts for a soothing bath), comfortable room temps with ceiling fan and air conditioner for the surprisingly hot weekend, immaculate and so tastefully decorated you feel immediately at home. Street parking readily accessible, delicious breakfasts, and tasty snacks and beverages available. Highly recommend!

9 Cranes Inn and Shelley made our visit to Seattle a perfect experience. The location couldn't be better as the neighborhood is fun, friendly and convenient. We had the Woodland Room on the ground floor. Although it's not a large room, it had everything we needed plus more. Shelley pays so much attention to detail. Even the ironing board and robes match the color of the wall!! Breakfast is a gourmet delight and despite our dietary restrictions, Shelley made it seem seamless. We could go on and on about both the Inn and Shelley but the fact that we would come back year after year says it all. Thank you.

We had a memorable stay in this circa 1916 meticulously restored craftsman. Innkeeper Shelley Goulding does keeps a clean, quiet, comfortable house and serves memorable coffee and breakfasts. We had the Ballard View room, which is just about the most sumptuous room we've ever stayed in. Our weekend was sunny and warm; we enjoyed the expansive deck and beautiful view of west Seattle. The inn was conveniently located to other neighborhoods we wanted to explore. We'll be back!

My husband and I recently stayed for three nights at 9 Cranes Inn while
visiting our son who lived nearby. We really enjoyed the quiet neighborhood, comfortable accommodations and delicious breakfasts prepared by Shelley. We had our own keys and could come and go easily and even enjoyed spending a little time relaxing with our son on the front porch. I would highly recommend a visit to Nearby Woodland Park with its beautiful rose garden and lake with a walking path around it if
you have the time.

This little B&B gem is a period craftsman home which has up to date and immaculate accommodations on a quiet residential street near Seattle's award-winning Woodland Park Zoo. We stayed in the spacious and airy Ballard View room on the extended top floor of the inn. The view from the room and its large open deck is truly spectacular. The king size bed is comfortable and the en suite bathroom is state of the art. The first thing you notice is that the room is maintained immaculately. Everything is spotless, bright and cheery. Shelley, the innkeeper, is a petite dynamo. She is friendly, very knowledgable and makes wonderful breakfasts. The location is a short bus ride away from dowtown attractions. It's nice to be able to leave the car behind when exploring downtown or going over to Bainbridge Island, which is a recommended day trip. Good local retaurants abound in the area, some ofwhich are in walking distance.

Room Tip: The Ballard View room is expansive, bright and cheery-- important in a city known for cloudy, rainy...
