“Nice variety”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 23, 2012

Rented a house on Lake Washington for a week and wanted a good dinner nearby. Lakeside was a pleasant surprise as it had an interesting variety for somewhat jaded travelers.

“Delightful Neighborhood Gem!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 5, 2012

I made a reservations thru Open Table w/special requests as my elderly father-in-law has some minor requirements. Arriving 15 mins late, we were greeted kindly & cordially, table was waiting & all requests met! The manager, Tim, came over to make sure all was in order for us even tho he was busy getting the live jazz musicians set up for the evening! Our waitress was absolutely adorable & knowledgable, helping with suggestions & answering our questions! A true delight, all service was impeccable!

We started with the excellent Fresh Spring Rolls, then dinner consisted of the Fire Roasted BBQ Duck with Pineapple (tender, tasty & great flavor combo!), Garlic Cubed Filet Mignon Hot Sizzling Platter (terrific flavor, cooked to perfection!) and the Basil & Coconut Curry Seafood Hot Pot (lovely flavor with lots of seafood!). It was all delicious & we made sure to tell Chef Michael when he stopped by to check on us! Wine list & pours were nice, music was enjoyable but not intrusive!

“Nice people, but utterly chaotic and unprepared....”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 15, 2012

Maybe its me, and maybe it was a bad day, but after 50+ years of traveling and experiencing different cultures and areas, I am confused why such a place as this would exist in a diverse city like Seattle.
There were 4 of us in our party. We made a reservation for Valentine's Day at specific time, 7:30pm; and received 2 reminder calls on the same day to confirm.
We arrived on time to a very crowded and confused staff and were told to wait in a small area adjacent to the kitchen. The ambiance was warm and cozy despite the large glass windows. There was a wonderful view of Lake Washington.
We were seated at a table with a white tablecloth covered with white torn off paper. Not much happened until all the remaining tables had been seated. As we read the small menu, It then became apparent that there were 2 seatings and we were at the 7:45pm. Why was this not explained when the reservation was made, and then confirmed twice for 7:30pm?
I will review the listed menu items as they were written and then as we received them:
Our places were set and we were served a Ceviche Style Prawn Cocktail, that was previously frozen shrimp with red cocktail sauce and some onions and peppers mixed in. We all enjoyed this, even though it did not really seem like ceviche.
Next was a Fresh Baby Spinach Salad with Grilled Chicken. This salad was good, but not baby spinach, some random macaroni and cherry tomatoes and fried ravioli's that were dried and chewy. We are still wondering what happened to the chicken.
The servers seemed not to know what things were when we asked, especially the fried ravioli, which they looked at with pure puzzlement.
Entree Selections: Dinner choices served with Chef's vegetables and noodles. One of our party is a vegetarian and the offered vegetarian entree was appreciated. The other 2 choices were, 1) Prime Rib-cooked to order with savory au jus and creamy horseradish sauce; and 2) Super-Fresh Halibut Fillet, Grilled to perfection just for you. with mild dill & caper-pesto sauce.
Prime Rib came as stated but was weak looking and thin for this cut.
Vegetarian entree was "fake chicken" in a bowl with vegetables and a sweet sauce and a separate large plate with rice, pesto paste and half of a tasty croissant.
The halibut was tasty but a tad over done, on a plate with pasta pesto and half a croissant.
We saw plates served to other tables with different food on them.
Additional Accoutrements:
Cheesecake and Chocolate-Dipped Strawberries
A Fresh-cut rose for your sweetheart!

We are still looking for the vegetables and the cheesecake.
The rose was lovely and the violin, guitar and vocals made the evening pleasant and somewhat romantic.
There is a small but reasonable wine and beer selection.
Its really about the company you are with and we all did have a good time being together, but for $95/couple I did expect a bit more organization and tastier food.

The advertised $5 brunch is something we will try to see if our Valentine's Day dinner was just a bad day at the Lakeside Bistro.

“All Around Excellent Brunch”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 12, 2012

This was our first trip to the Lakeside Bistro and we enjoyed their brunch [breakfast]. Our experience was all -around excellence from when we entered to when we left. We were greeted warmly and seated quickly. The brunch is a buffet and is easy to understand - $5 for 1 trip and $7 for unlimited trips. From the smell alone, we knew we would make more than one trip. We had a short wait until the buffet was ready - in any other restaurant this would have annoyed me. As each moment passed, I realized I liked this place more and more.

Lighting and decor is fun and cheerful, but not garish. The music playing was jazz - loud enough to hear, but not too loud, and sort of "middle-of-the-road" in style. I'm picky about the jazz I hear and the music was perfect.

The service was top-notch. It was attentive, but not pesty. The server welcomed us and the general manager came over and greeted us as well. The busboy was super-helpful. We felt, and were, well taken care of.

The food was delicious. Great taste, well-seasoned, and at appropriate temperatures. While the quantity/variety is not that of well-known chains, there was clear variety and something for everyone. I got to have Caesar salad at breakfast - what fun! The buffet was continuously attended to and kept well stocked.

We look forward to going to brunch again as well as going to Lakeside Bistro for luch or dinner.

“Lovely, calm, romantic atmosphere + excellent scrumptious food = wonderful evening out!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 5, 2011

The atmosphere of this restaurant is romantic French-cafe. The food is upscale Vietamese. The service was knowledgeable, professional, and very friendly. We got so-so prawn spring rolls as a starter, but our entrees and the sides they came with were outstanding! We got the rib eye steak, the roasted duck, and the basil & coconut seafood curry. We finished our meal with a delicious white chocolate and raspberry cheesecake. We will go back, and we will recommend.
