“Yummy sushi - reasonable prices”
Review of Sushi Kanpai

Sushi Kanpai
Ranked #605 of 4,271 Restaurants in Seattle
Cuisines: Sushi
Description: Buttery sushi rice that melts in your mouth is what you will experience when dining at Sushi Kanpai. You think Seattle is filled with cool sushi restaurants but not. I've had some not so memorable sushi experiences. Sushi is hit and miss, its either good or bad and no such thing as a mediocre experience. Sushi Kanpai serves yummy sushi that melts in your mouth at very reasonable prices. Check out their happy hours prices!! The fish was fresh, sauce was not too salty and the rice is heavenly and not crusty! Rice should never be cooked al dente like pasta (or soggy either). Service was great too and lots of street parking!

Found this place within walking distance of hotel. Good prices especially during happy hour which includes beverages as well as some food selections. Pass on the edamame as it seemed over microwaved. But the fish was tasty and nice sized portions. As was the generous wine pour for happ hour price.

All in all good dinner at a good value!

Hit the "Happy Hour" on a weekday (nice extended Happy Hour until 7), had some nice rolls, very reasonable with good value. Nice attentive service. Not at the level of Seattle's best like Umi and Shiro's (both Belltown) but very much worth considering if you're on First Hill or staying at or visiting the South part of Downtown.

Sushi Kanpai is a neighborhood restaurant within walking distance of many of the downtown hotels. While in Seattle, we seek sushi and sashimi and this restaurant exceeded all of our expectations. The fish was very fresh and its presentation was excellent. The service was friendly and first class. The decor was very attractive.

We were there during happy hour which made this restaurant the best value in Seattle. The premium sake offering (Genbei San No Ono Koroshio) was addictive.

We were visiting Seattle for the first time and asked the concierge for a decent restaurant within walking distance to our hotel (Renaissance). We had our 2 teenage sons with us.
The ambience was super cool....the tables felt very "private" the way the restaurant was set up. Decor was very nice....GREAT service and the food was delicious. We went on a Sunday evening and they still honored the "happy hour" pricing. Even their regular menu prices were very reasonable. Had a wide selection and we were thrilled! Try the "volcano rolls" - the best we've ever had!

My wife, two young children, and I went into this establishment on an early Saturday afternoon. It didn't seem like a good place for young children (one 4 yrs old and the other 6 mos. old), but they had a high chair and seemed very hospitable.
The sushi may not have looked perfect, but it was the best tasting sushi my wife and I had ever had. Also, the saki and beer were both very resonably priced, and they had a nice selection.
I would HIGHLY recommend this resturant to anyone that is looking for sushi or just a nice place a socialize.
