Nice location, interesting building

4.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed Aug 5, 2019
The hotel is certainly different from any Courtyard I've been to- it's an older, historic building that has been updated. The first room we were assigned smelled awful- like mothballs or death, but luckily they were able to switch us and the new room was above the treetops looking down on the street. Loved that the windows opened fully to let in the breeze. Good walking location as well.

Not a place that I will come back- my room was facing the back alley and it was noisy all night- the room was dark and it didn’t look too clean- we were there for an event- breakfast was ok- they have good choices but it is not included in the price-

Well, as a Marriott Ambassador Member, I stay at lots of properties, and have stayed here 4 times. Maybe they were just having a bad day all around. First, the room was very nice, clean, large, and comfortable. No problems there, and one of the nicer rooms at a Courtyard. The service, however, was substandard for Marriott. Valet was awesome, but front desk woman must have been having a bad day and you could tell. Lukewarm welcome, very short when we asked a few questions (There was no one waiting, so it wasn’t like she was in a rush). The guy working the desk was great, he guided us to the stairs since the elevators were out. We decided to ask the valet about places to eat, he was nice and had good recommendations (and got a nice tip). Elevators were inoperable for a few hours, but hey, we needed the exercise. The pull-out bed for our son had no sheets, so called once, then after a few hours twice, then received...wet sheets, no pillow. So, called a third time. Another looong wait and finally contacted the Ambassador Service to say, hey, we’d all like to rest, preferably in beds with (dry) sheets. Finally got someone to bring up dry sheets and one pillow, no extra blanket. Not one word from management until they finally responded to their “Chat” line. This was not our previous experience at this hotel, so we’re chalking it up to “everyone has a bad day” and we’ll likely give them another chance.

We stayed here overnight before a cruise out of Seattle. We were in very early and the hotel was able to accommodate us to get us into a room early.

We did end up with a ‘limited view’ brick wall view as attached to my review. It’s a remake of an older building so navigating the floor plan is somewhat interesting. Otherwise, I’d suggest that this hotel, while pricy is well placed in Pioneer Square, not far from Pike’s Market and Westlake nor the stadiums.

Staff was okay, but not overly friendly during our stay. Maybe ask for a room with a view. Because of our early arrival, we decided not to be picky!

We arrived late on a Friday night. We booked this hotel for convenience to the port, tourist attractions, etc. We walked 1.4 miles to the Space Needle, which was okay. It was a beautiful day. However, when we checked out the people at the front desk and bell boys all gave out bad information on where we needed to go for the Ferry to Victoria. They said just walk straight down to the Pier, which was Pier 52. However, the Ferry to Victoria was Pier 69...at least a mile or so away. If you don't know, don't give bad advice. And, the lady at the front desk was rude too. I will definitely not stay at this property again. On a positive note, we did have a good view of the bay but the room was overpriced anyway.

Room tip: Go for the rooms with a view of the bay

Thank you for taking the time to review our hotel. I sincerely apologize for the mis-information you were given regarding the ferry service to Victoria and the rude reception you received at the front desk. I have forwarded your comments to our Front Office Manager for follow-up and retraining. This is certainly not our standard of service and we will work to correct these issues.
We do value your business and hope you will give us another chance in the future.
Regards,
David

I've stayed at this hotel, and will probably stay again when I go back to Seattle. It's very convenient to the Pike Market, the waterfront, and downtown. The front desk service is always great and friendly. The room is clean, and the bed very comfortable.

On this visit, I stayed a week and upgraded to a corner room on the 10th floor overlooking the water. I didn't recall that one could hear so much street noise all night long, especially being on a high floor. I turned down the A/C so that the fan was continually blowing, which helped considerably. If you stay here, i might recommend a room that is not on the street side unless you are a really sound sleeper.
