The beds were comfortable and the hotel was quiet. The hotel was secure you could not use the elevator without your key card. The location was close to lots of restaurants and shops. It is walking distance to Pike's market and the retail core. But, best of all was the staff. The valet guys were very friendly and helpful and the check in process was very smooth.

Nothing fancy but nice rooms, good gym and great staff. It's just a few blocks from the train station, and really close to the central link light rail to SeaTac. My room with two queens also had a pull-out oversized chair, so it could sleep 5. For the solo business traveler, there's good take-out within a couple blocks. David Peacey, an amazing massage therapist, is a block away on First Ave. He's extremely professional and talented - well worth a visit if you stay here.

Spent the weekend in Seattle. Stayed at the waterfront Marriott the week before but chose to stay here because of the complimentary WIFI (needed to do work). Had to valet here $28/night. Don't be deceived by the old building, the insides were redone nicely. The rooms were comfortably sized and my king-size bed room even had a couch and an ottoman. Location was quite convenient. Its a block from the light rail system and a 10 min walk to Pikes Place. The only negative was the noise during the day/night. The windows are old so noise easily leaks through. They were washing the street and constructing scaffolding while I visited so it was quite loud at times. Overall it was an average room for the price, but very conveniently located.

Thank you for choosing to stay with us. We appreciate your positive comments about our rooms and location, as well as our complimentary internet. You are right however about our windows. Being a historic building does hinder us from updating our windows, so noise will escape into the guest rooms. However we do provide ear plugs at the front desk if the city noise becomes too much. We hope you decide to stay with us again.

If you have ever been to Europe and stayed on the 3rd floor of a 400 year old hotel across from Central Station the noise an location wont be a problem. If you always stay outside the city in a glass bubble 40 stories above civilization, then this is a good start for you to get a taste of the city. Tereasa at the front desk was very nice and helpful. There is no free breakfast, but you can walk to Pike Place Market and eat your way around it for breakfast and lunch.

Thank you for taking the time to provide comments on your recent stay with us. I am glad that you were able to appreciate and enjoy the downtown Seattle environment. Pike Place Market is a great location for discovering many different types of foods and cuisines. And it being only a fifteen minute walk from the hotel makes it even better! It’s great to hear that Teresa was able to make your stay more enjoyable. We hope to see you again soon.

Hotel is great, new and renovated, but you can only valet car here and it's $28++, the rooms are beautiful, the internet was choppy (next stayed connected), no free breakfast, old renovated building and tastefully done. Comfortable bed, Paul Mitchell toiletries. Not bad at all, definitely will be returning. A few beggars asking for money around the place, but typical of that part of Seattle. Thanks.

Thank you for providing feedback about your stay with us. Although the valet rate might seem a little high, you are able to access your car 24/7 and as many times as you would like, which is something many parking garages in the area do not provide. I will also have the internet looked at to make sure that it is working properly. I appreciate your comments and am glad to see that you will be staying with us again.

Great location, interior is modern and clean, room layout is different but I like it. So the negative is that this is in an older building with old windows. The road noise kept me awake and I felt like I was smack dab in the middle of New York City.

Room Tip: ask for an inside room?

Your review is much appreciated, our adaptive re-use of the 1904 Alaska Building attempted to keep much of the historic look and feel to our public space, while delivering state of the art guest room amenities, including; plush bedding and IPTV. I hope you found your experience a good one and that we will see you on your next trip to Seattle.

preface- I love the new Courtyard identity- open plan lobbies, checkin is informal and super easy, dining options from snacks in the pantry and restaurant when you need it. So with that said, know that I have stayed at this hotel 3 times now for work and will continue to do so; it's got an indoor pool, fitness room and staff are generally nice. (You may feel the Seattle Freeze from some though- be warned!)

Here's the thing- no room experience has been identical so far! The first time I got a suite overlooking the city, with nice views and I was a happy camper. The next time my room (small- no couch) was on a lower floor facing 2nd Ave and I was woken up constantly with traffic noise and early morning garbage trucks (light sleeper). So the 3rd time I asked for a room away from the street hoping to get that city view again, only to find a scene from a Harlem alleyway out the window (see photo)... I didn't mind; I guess I was not there to stare out of the window, but just be aware if you are coming to enjoy Seattle as a tourist! Know that the windows didn't get upgraded with the rest of the building as it's a listed building so there may be wind noise and some creaking.

Finally, know that just south of the hotel, you will find yourself in Pioneer Square's most 'homeless friendly' part; a short walk south on 2nd ave there is a shelter. For the record I have found the homeless in Seattle are not unruly (like in SF's where you may get pestered for blocks).

Enjoy the Emerald City!

Room Tip: As high as you can get, facing south! Not on the street unless you don't care about traffic nois...

Thank you for your candid comments and for your loyalty to both Marriott and our hotel. Our physical location, at the corner of Second Ave. and Cherry St., with buildings behind us does result in varying views (some spectacular while others not scenic) so I can appreciate your experience. For those occasions when ensuring a “view” is a must, we do offer the ability to guarantee these rooms for a modest price differential.

Your concern out side sounds coming in the guest room is undeniable. The adaptive reuse of this 1904 historic Alaska building also had strings attached to construction by the Preservation Board, who required us to change only the glass, yet keep the window frames (which each open 6”) to preserve the historic characteristic of the building. For light sleepers, please request a room on the south and east sides of the hotel to mitigate noise issues.

Thank you again for your review and kind word for our staff…we are here to serve and look forward to your return.
