The Maxwell Hotel - A Staypineapple Hotel
Ranked #8 of 103 Hotels in Seattle
Certificate of Excellence
Reviewed November 15, 2010

My husband and I stayed at the Maxwell for three days in November 2010 for fun in Seattle. We love the proximity to the Seattle Center and great neighborhood restaurants. We were on the third floor and had a fantastic view of the needle and downtown Seattle. The free parking is a plus. Ask for an ethernet cable at the front desk for a more secure connection to the internet. Each night they had little pineapple cupcakes and coffee in the lobby and umbrellas to use if you were walking around the area.
The one downside we noticed is the noise. The maids in the morning were quite loud with their carts and general talking back and forth with each other. We wanted to sleep in on Thursday morning and were unable to with all of the noise in the hallways (very thin walls).
We would stay here again and next time we will bring ear plugs!

Friends and I stayed there prior to our evening at McCaw Hall for the ballet. Loved the easy walking (safe) access to McCaw Hall and excellent restaurants on the same street as the hotel.
The staff were super friendly and helpful with restaurant recommendations and directions to the monorail so that we could leave the car, after we checked out, and visit SAM (Picasso Exhibit).
We agreed that the lobby decor was elegant/funk and enjoyed the little pineapple cupcakes in the lobby, late afternoon. Just a nice touch.
Also the pool, although, not huge, perfect for relaxing after a busy evening. In fact, the staff allowed us to stay in an extra hour after the "normal" closing hour.
And yes, free parking! And very comfy room and mattresses. With a "sexy" coffee maker in the room.
Can't wait for an excuse to travel back to town for another theater experience.

The room was spectacular, the staff excellent and accommodating. I particularly like no carpets on the hardwood floors in the room - very clean. The walk-in shower is great!
They did overfill the parking lot and I ended up outside but still OK. The only problems I could find were that it was faaar away from where I intended to be - SouthEast Seattle. Roads were under construction with detours everywhere. Also the internet was spotty and slow in my room - small criticisms.
If you need to be close to the Space Neede/Seattle Center, this place is perfect.

Like all the other reviews have said, this is a great hotel. The decor is stylish, retro, and modern. I loved the pillowtop beds...so comfy! And very nice that the rooms have a mini fridge, microwave, K cup coffee maker, and huge shower. Free parking and free wifi are also nice. A bit out of the way of downtown, but really not that far. For the price, it is a steal! We have definitely found our go-to hotel in Seattle!

This hotel was my second stay (Hotel Modera in Portland was first) on my most recent swing to the Pacific Northwest and it did not disappoint. The Maxwell is a beautiful new facility with nice decor and a great lobby. The rooms were very comfortable, good shower and comfortable bedding as well. Although the location is not exactly near downtown Seattle (but close to the Needle and Seattle Center), I appreciated the free parking and enjoyed the short walk to the Queen Anne neighborhood restaurants.

One thing that didn't affect my stay but may affect others was the notion of a "space needle view" room, where rooms on the southside (streetside) of the hotel have a view of the Seattle icon. The first night I was there I split a room with my folks on the third floor, and we could barely see it, as a parking garage across the street blocks the view. If you are on the fourth floor (as I was on my last night) or the fifth floor, you will get a much better view.

The Maxwell hotel is a perfect hotel for folks who wish to stay a little outside the Seattle core but still enjoy all Seattle has to offer. The neighborhood is full of restaurants all with in walking distance. The hotel itself was very clean with colorful well-decorated rooms and very helpfully staff. Free parking and WIFI is also available. Guests should note that the WIFI throughout the hotel is not using any sort of encryption meaning no id or passwords are required to access internet at the hotel. While this makes it easier for the non-techie sort to get online it does potentially leave guests open to security risks associated with an open connection. All in all we loved the Maxwell and hope to return again.

Perfect location for what we wanted to do in Seattle without having to pay the expense of staying in a downtown location. On the other hand you don't get a view of the Puget Sound that you get from one of the downtown high rise units. However, this place is still very new, very nicely appointed though sparse to some extent since there's little activity in the main lobby area due, I think, to no on-site lounge/bar or restaurant. Staff engaging, friendly and helpful. Amenities were right up there, the bed restful and relaxing, wooden floors in the room were an interesting 'green' touch although it made sound bounce around a bit. A number of good restaurant choices within easy walking distance. And big plus was free parking (especially with what is charged downtown) although getting out to a bus stop (or the monorail) is equally as easy to do if its not raining too hard. We had beautiful fall weather and walked around a lot, over to the Seattle Center, etc. And glad to have found this very reasonably priced hotel. Well worth it and would stay there again.
