We stayed at the Maxwell for 2 nights before a cruise in August 2012 and again for 2 nights for a Seattle trip in August 2013. This is a newer hotel in a good, quiet location in the Queen Anne area. Close enough to downtown to be handy, yet just far enough away to avoid the noise of downtown. It is a about a 3 block walk from the Space Needle, and about a 15 minute walk to Pike Place Market. There are some restaurants on both sides of the hotel (Asian and a McMenamin's pub) and a QVC grocery store a few blocks away.
We booked rooms with 2 beds with a Queen Anne view for both stays. For our 2012 stay, our view was actually of a concrete wall of an adjoining hotel wing. For our 2013 stay, our view was of the McMenamin's pub and apartment buildings across the street.
The rooms are nicely decorated with an extra sitting chair or two, depending on the room. They are spacious, with comfortable beds. Nice sized bathroom and shower. Love the Tommy Bahama bath products! It is also nice to have a small fridge and microwave. The Keurig is a welcome touch in the room. We had no noise from adjoining rooms during our 2013 stay. For our 2012 stay, however, we heard the people above us walking....at all hours. Early morning, late at night....constantly noisily walking back and forth.
The small pineapple cupcakes and Starbucks coffee, served in the lobby, are a nice touch and most welcome when checking in and when taking an afternoon break.
Parking is free at the Maxwell, which is nice since many downtown Seattle hotels tend to charge $25 per night or more. The parking garage is located under the hotel. It is very secure, with a gate that fully encloses the entrance to the garage and for which you need a room key to gain access. Be warned - the spots are very small and tight to get into.
We enjoy the Maxwell and will stay here again should our travels take us back to Seattle.
