“A Pleasant Surprise”
Reviewed July 27, 2011

On first glance, one is not quite sure if this will be a good family hotel. There is no complimentary breakfast, no restaurant or bar, and the snack shop is really just some goodies behind a counter that the front desk staff also mans. But the hotel is clean and the look is modern. The rooms are comfortable and are a mix of uber-modern and art deco - as are the common areas. No room service available, but lots of eating places within walking distance. You can also walk to the Seattle Center and the Space Needle, while downtown and Pikes Market are 10 minutes by car. Therefore, the room rates are lower than downtown but you are in easy reach of all the attractions and shopping. Worth a repeat on return visits to Seattle.

Room Tip: Call the hotel directly. I got alerted to special rates.

We stayed here 1 night, prior to our Alaska cruise. I had arranged a town car pick up through the hotel to get us from the airport. This was a flat rate of $50 (paid at drop off). There was a small issue with waiting on the driver to get gas instead of being ready to pick us up immediately, but it wasn't a big deal. Easier than calling a taxi. The ride to the hotel was about 20 minutes on the highway. Check in at the hotel was easy, although they didn't mention that I had booked the pre-cruise package which includes transportation to the pier the next day. I had to inquire about that and arrange pick up time. The package also included 2 breakfast sandwiches and specialty coffees from the coffee stand in the lobby.
Overall, this hotel is beautiful. Very clean, elegant and contemporary. The room is large with wood floors, fridge and Kuerig coffee maker. Included is bottled water and K-cups for coffee and tea. Linens are high quality, soft and fluffy. The bed is a soft pillow top.
The hotel is located in Queen Anne. It's about a 10 minute walk to the Space Needle. We walked all the way to Pike's Place and that is quite a walk but good exercise. It took about 2 1/2 hrs to walk round trip plus walk through the market (didn't have time to browse much though). Practically next door to the hotel is a Pub with good burgers and microbrew beers. The truffle tater tots are also good. They do have happy hour specials and they are open until late. Prices are reasonable.
This hotel is worth the price. It's well located and room is very nice. I would stay here again.

Room Tip: Rooms with a Space Needle view are on the street side of the building, but I didn't notice traff...

Being a travel agent myself it is very important to have a good location to visit and stay. My husband and I took a cruise to Alaska and we wanted to stay in Seattle to relax before our long journey back to the east coast we had the privilege of staying at the Maxwell hotel in downtown Seattle. What a great hotel!!!! It was within walking distance to the space needle, the duck tours, and the music and science museum. The beds where heaven we actually asked what kind of bed it was so we can go home and get one. The hotel was clean and very friendly for both pets and people. It was modern but elegant. Location was very clean. The pool was great for kids.

My wife and I stayed at The Maxwell hotel in late July while en route home to Australia.

We chose the Maxwell because of the reviews provided in Trip Advisor and were not disappointed. The Maxwell was good value for money with a location on the fringe of the Seattle CBD that was easy to access, close to the Seattle Center and a pleasant 30 minute walk to the heart of the CBD.

The rooms are clean, well equipped, spacious and comfortable and overall we found the hotel stylish and functional.

Those contemplating a stay at the Maxwell should be aware that there is no in-house dining or bar however with some good restaurants and bars close by this wasn't a problem for us. We would recommend "10 Mercer" as an excellent dining option that is nearby.

Parking is a little limited and might be a problem when the Hotel is fully booked however there was ample space for our vehicle throughout our stay.

We found the staff friendly, efficient and helpful and would certainly return should we be back in Seattle in the future.

We stayed at the Maxwell before our Alaskan Cruise. We had two days in Seattle. The Maxwell is very contemporary and that was fine. It's location near the Space Needle was great to walk around the area. There was some good breakfast places and a nice bar with local beers right next door. The Queen Anne district was good to explore.
The best part, however, was that they offered courtesy bicycles. Seattle is very bike friendly. There are some hills, but almost always there are bike paths around. We were able to explore Fremont and the Ballard area and the locks so much more extensively because of the bicycles. Their bus system is wonderful also to get to these areas but the bikes made it so much better.

My wife and I booked the Maxwell for a vacation and it was a great choice. The location is quiet, but within easy walking distance of the Space Needle and the Monorail, which is a cool and short ride to downtown.

The rooms are trendy and clean with some great amenities. Our door's internal security lock somehow became loose and actually prevented us from entering the room. The manager was able to open it and moved us into a different room with views of the Space Needle. It is great to look out and enjoy the view at night.

There is also a great Thai restaurant just down the block as well as other eats nearby. I would stay there again and highly recommend it to anyone.

Room Tip: Ask for a room on the upper floors on the side with the Space Needle. Great view!
