“4-6pm Happy Hour: Beaded Lady, Buttermilk Beignets”
Reviewed February 19, 2013

These were the highlights of my first 4pm Happy Hour experience.

I do not like the taste of alcohol but the Beaded Lady cocktail was delicious! The Beaded Lady has absolute mango, mango puree, sour, bitters, soda. I could barely taste the alcohol.

The buttermilk Beignets are too die for. I felt like I was on cloud 9 with every bite. They are served hot and definitely taste fresh. Moist texture and covered in powdered sugar! (I wanted to lick the plate). And served with a warm hazelnut sauce on the side.

The other food was great to (mushrooms bruscetta, braised bacon, lamb sliders, homemade fries- fries are NOT included with the sliders. extra $2.).

If your health conscious, save your extra calories and splurge on the beignets.

“Wow impresive food and wine”
Reviewed February 16, 2013 via mobile

We tried 2 times but where fully booked, but while walking to alternative restaurant we just tried in the restaurant and Yeah we were lucky! The place is great, still surprised there were two big TV's hanging there, probably to avoid a boring romantic dinner :-). Menu is big, so hard to make a good choice! I asked what the neighbour table was as it looked awsome and ordered the same. Super choice, tasty, spicy and normal portions. The red we picked was awsome...so yes agree with the high rating! Will come back

“beyond disappointing”
Reviewed February 16, 2013

Dinner 16 February 2013

I am not one to complain or even write a disappointing review; however, the entire experience for Toulouse Petit was completely underwhelming.

The service was one of "who cares." The main thing the server pointed out was the items on the menu she did not like. There was very little knowledge of the large menu. For example, we asked if Yellow Eye Snapper was similar to Red Snapper. The server's response that it is "probably in the same family of fish." It turns out it is the exact same fish. A quick Google search explained that.

After choosing some standard fare from the salads and the entree items, we found that the food lacked personality or any sort of uniqueness. The items were described so well on the menu, with care and appeal, and the presentations were quite nice. This only set up us up for a bigger let down. The flavors were basic or even nondescript, and as if we could have prepared the items ourselves at home.

The atmosphere was excitingly eclectic and seemingly intimate. It has the makings for a wonderful experience for a group or a dinner for two; however, they need some serious work on acoustics. Saying it was hard to hear one another from 2 feet away is not an overstatement.

The two of us are extremely forgiving and fairly laid back when it comes to judging service. Even after waiting for quite a while to be greeted, we were still OK. After the general sense of "who cares" kept perpetuating, it was glaringly noticed for the rest of the evening. No one ever asked how we liked the food. No one even refilled the water glasses until we were paying the bill.

Dinner for two included two salads and two entrees. Heading out for a concert, we did not feel like any wine or dessert. The bill still came to $75. In any other situation, I would not even blink at the bill, but given the terribly lack luster service, misleading menu, and extremely disappointing food, the bill only added salt to the wound (perhaps some salt or any other seasoning would have helped the food instead).

“Average in every way”
Reviewed February 11, 2013

We went there for lunch on Sunday. This was our first time eating here, after having read rave reviews at Tripadvisor. There was a long wait - 45 minutes at 11:00 am which became 90 minutes by noon. This place is average in every way including the food, service and ambiance. Very loud, food is nothing special. We really do not get the hype (no.5 favourite restaurant in the U.S. and no.10 in the world!).

There were five adults in our party for breakfast and we tried five different things. We always pass foods for tastes and then do rankings. This was really difficult! We could all imagine any one of the five breakfast entrees being a number one at virtually any other restaurant. And, all of the eggs were cooked perfectly, across over-medium, scrambled and poached. Watch for the Atomic Orange, a really good cocktail that goes down way too easily!
