Long's is one of the best Vietnamese spots in the city. Their food is always well prepared and served with much better presentation and flourish than the typical Pho joints many people are used to. Long's also has a vast selection of soups and a terrific menu of other Vietnamese fare that I'm sure you'll enjoy. Even the usual staples are very well done. Their satay is so much better than the average marinaded meat strips you encountered before, that I would say Long's is a must have by comparison.
The only knock I have is kind of petty, but I really dislike the layout and decor. Long's moved into this space after it was vacated by an upscale and modern SE Asian place that had a much more open vibe with better light and energy. By contrast, the current owners darkened the interior and added walls and partitions that really disrupted the ambiance. I realize they probably couldn't have keep the same details as the previous place but I think they went too far in putting their own touch on things. None of this should keep you away, but I feel that it diminishes the experience of eating here.
