This is a large beautiful park with a large pretty lake in the center. HIking path all the way around with nice shade trees and refreshment stops.

Seattle has many parks and Green Lake Park in the Centre of the City has something which is unique to Seattle. It has a Clean Lake and a Lush Park. This makes plenty of options for you to spend the day. You can swim, dive, boat ,sail and fish in the lake. Boats of all types are available for hiring.
You can stroll, walk, jog, or run around the lake ( A path of approximately Three Miles mostly level). For the young you can skate, Roller Blade.
You can play Basket Ball or Soccer in td Fields. To top it all there is a Children Play Area.
Virtually it caters to everyone in the family at no cost ( As there is no entry fee) and at minimal driving from Seattle.
The Park has a Café ,but there are many good restaurants in the vicinity.
Head for it if you have not already visited.

...but you should. Everybody in Seattle converges here on the first warm days of the year, and for the rest of the summer, it's a hive of activity - power-walking, joggers, skaters, tennis-players paddle-boarders, sunbathers... it's divine. As close as Seattle has to a Central Park, as an earlier reviewer noted - it's just not directly downtown.

There is one high-end restaurant nearby (Nell's) and a bunch of mediocrity that caters to sweaty families (Greenlake Bar & Grill, Rositas, Turnpike Pizza, Spud, Tacos Guyamas, BluWater Bistro) and that will fit nicely into any casual gathering. Turnpike actually has pretty good pie.

Parking is awful in good weather. Take the bus if possible (the 48 is particularly useful), bring a picnic, and burn some calories. It's a wonderful place.

You gotta try the SUP in Green Lake
It is fun activity, you will probably fall in the water few times, still fun.
It is kind of in between kayaking and surfing

It is the new thing in Green lake
I did it with my daughter and it is really fun way of cruising in the lake. Take Gopro camera and record the action.
