I just took a walk around Green Lake and was treated to a great variety of walkers, sports enthusiasts, and wildlife. We started at the south end of the lake and continued in a clockwise fashion. Right away we noticed a lovely bearded heron standing on a log in the lake, and beside him were 6 turtles sunning themselves. Flowering lilypads surrounded the heron and friends. And then we spotted a racoon half-way up a cedar tree. Down on the ground were moms and dads pushing strollers, folks biking, skating, and roller blading. There's a walking lane and a biking lane, which most people pay attention to. Out on the lake was a man in a canoe taking photos, and in another boat, a father and son were fishing. Along the walking/bike path are lots of benches, little flower beds, and sloping grass to enjoy. There's a little golf course at the south end, and across the street are 10+ tennis courts. This is really is a great place to people watch, view wildlife, and get some exercise!

I loved everything about this park. A great place to run, walk or bike. The views are beautiful and I would say it is a must see for anyone visiting Seattle. They also have paddle boats and paddle boards for rent that I would love to use next time I am there.

Bird watching!! We walk the 2.8 mile loop almost every day. We have seen much wildlife happening here and we still comment on every visit about how much we love living in Seattle and so close to this beautiful nature's escape among the urban life! We love watching Osprey hunt for their dinner - we now know why they call them "fish hawks". Their talons are very mighty! We've seen: Eagles, Great Blue Herons, Red-wing Blackbirds, Northern Flickers, Cedar Wax-wings, and all kinds of quick flying small birds like swallows, nuthatches, robins, etc...

Go to MyGreenLake.com for lots of updated and wonderful information about events and activities and stories!

Romp in the grass, Row your boat, Ride your bike, Roller-skate, Golf, Soccer, Disc Golf, Basketball and then there's the Boathouse Theater, coffee shops, Seattle Public Library's Green Lake Branch, Restaurants nearby that offer wonderful selections from casual to fine dining!
We love living here and there's always something to do... Our favorite of course is the Bird Watching!! We always walk with our binoculars!

This must be why Seattlites look so fit—runners/ bikers/ strollers of all ages make use of this great shoreline trail. Of course you can stop for coffee as you do the circle-round.
