“Great View!”

Sky View Observatory

After I found this attraction. On TripAdvisor we made it a point to visit the Columbia Center Sky Deck on our visit to the city. It was an easy walk from Pikes Market. If your walking from the Market you should take Pine St up to 5th Ave and then walk 5th over to Columbia. The incline was hardly noticeable taking this route and it only took about 15 minutes. Then on your way back it's all downhill!
Take the elevator to the 40th floor and stop in at the Starbucks. If you don't want to pay the $9/ adult and $6/ child admission the view from the panoramic Starbucks is free!
If your okay spending the money switch elevators and take it up to the 73rd floor.
The Sky Deck was amazing of course. They don't time how long your there so you don't feel rushed and it wasn't crowded at all (on a Friday afternoon). The views were breathtaking and definitely worth the money. You can see everything from up there. It was a great experience, the kids loved it, and we have great pictures that far surpass any the Space Needle could yield.

Wow what a view from the 73rd floor of Columbia Center. Even my husband who is not crazy about being up high came right out to the edge of the glassed in floor and looked around at the spectacular views-Space Needle and city skyline, Ferries, stadium and more. Iti s well worth the small fee.

After reading previous reviews, we gave it a try. The view was beautiful but we were unpleasantly surprised that there was I believe a $9 fee per person to enter the observation area. There were no lines to wait in though. If this was a free attraction I would rate it 5 stars but for $9 it was ok. The building has a lot of eating places, clean and pleasant.

How can the tallest skyscraper in Seattle not provide the best view of surrounding Seattle areas? The most exciting part of our experience was watching the evening sky clear up and reveal views of Mt. Ranier. Awesome!

Better go here than the Space Needle. Less crowded and much better photograph if Space Needle included.
