If you like odd, morbid stuff, this is the place for you. Didn't have time to do one of the ghost tours, bet that would have been fun. The shop is full of crazy stuff, you just can't believe your eyes. Have to see it to believe it.

I would have passed this place up had it not been for the sign advertising Mexican jumping beans. Wandered in, wandered around the gag gifts and magic tricks until I got to the back where the gross stuff is. And that's when I looked up and saw the walrus face. And I've been seeing it in my nightmares ever since.

Ye Olde Curiosity Shop is located on Pier 54, just north of the ferry terminal on the beautiful and historic Seattle waterfront. The store was founded in 1899 by Daddy Standley (great-grandfather of the current proprietor). YOCS has moved its physical location a few times but they have never moved from the values and culture established by Daddy Standley; that is to honestly serve visitors and locals alike with oddities from around the world (e.g. shrunken heads) as well as local treasures (e.g. American Indian / Native American / Eskimo arts and handicrafts). Oh, and you will find plenty of souvenirs to remember your trip to Seattle and your visit to Ye Olde Curiosity Shop.

This is a fun, touristy shop that has a bit of everything. The first thing you need to do is look up as there is a ton of items, such as the Merman, Alligator Man, Sylvester and Silvia Mummies (yes they are real), a 350-year-old "African voodoo monkey" and one of the largest collection of real shrunken heads outside of Ecuador. Along with this are all other manner of weird and wonderful along with the usual and unusual tourist crap. A very fun place to visit and you need to take your time to see everything. The only thing that stopped me from giving it a 5 is that is is tight to move around and always crowded.

What a cool, eclectic shop!!! T-shirts and sunglasses and postcards, sure, but also mummies and totem poles and funky jewelry and SEVERAL smashed penny machines! And fudge?!?! I could have spent HOURS in here.
