Grand kids live this place. We always start w the penguins. Lots of animals are elusive and only sometimes seen as modern zoos give animals opportunities for privacy. So not everything see able in one trip but over 3 or 4 visits we see it all. Pointers: food is expensive so take a simple picnic + a treat and bottles of water or juice in a backpack. Note restrooms and ask "the question" on approach to one so you aren't doubling back. If you are wondering about a stroller the answer is yes. Even for toddlers who wear down quickly and it makes a great place to stash jackets and lunch. Kids always have a wonderful time. Every child will want their own map. Lots to see if you don't let expectation build about seeing a particular animal.

I was depressed looking at the animals. I had bought a Groupon for this zoo, and when I went, the animals looked SO miserable. I don't know if animals were molting because it was spring, or they were just generally sad, but almost all of the ones I saw looked pretty damn sad.

OMG, if my tax dollars are supporting this I'm voting NO next time. Few improvements have been made since my last visit a few years ago and what happened to all the animals? We're they on vacation someplace warmer? And what about the grounds keepers? What's mess! Map and signage need some help, hard to follow and poorly done. Someone is getting paid way to much to put out a shoddy display of a zoo we should have pride in. If you bought a City Pass, go to the Museum of Flight instead and you won't be disappointed.

I'm not sure how busy it gets on the weekend, but a Thursday visit was great. There was a line for tickets, but it was remedied when another window opened up. They have a military discount, so show your I'd if you have one.
There is plenty to see here, a good variety of animals. Really nice aviaries as well. This would be a great place to spend a full day. We only got to stay for two hours, but there's so much more to see. The four lion cubs are now out with their mother each day now, so it's a good opportunity to visit.

This place is great to spend the day. Concessions are a bit pricey, but if your not on a lower budget, it's great to just relax here, learn about the animals and have some fun. Great for people of all ages!
