We visited the zoo coming from Washington, DC and accustomed to the National Zoo. The Woodland Park zoo was so great and felt so personal and up close that we like it better than our home zoo. The Zookeepers were friendly and shared information with us, we were able to get up close and personal with the animals and overall, the exhibits were very authentic and beautiful.

I love this zoo be sure to grab a Turtle Latte at the food court, they are delicious. I was kid of disappointed they closed the nocturnal exhibit, when I was here years ago we went and it was amazing. Still overall the zoo is great and has a great nature feel to it. Bus number 5 picks up downtown all along third ave and drops off right at the entrance.

Been to National Zoo a zillion times, this compares well for easily navigable in 3h, and loads of species! Some habitats small, but all very lovingly landscaped. The kids loved feeding the penguins and parrakeets/cockatiels.

We love the "Family Farm" area of this zoo because the animal enclosures are smaller so that toddlers can actually get up close and see and hear the animals. After our last visit, my little one learned to make a "moo" sound after hearing the cows!
