We did not get a chance to do much hiking. On the weekends there is a shuttle bus to thebeach area and lighthouse. Spent about an hour watching the beautiful sailboats and photographing the lighthouse, which is being restored. Park is free-beautiful forest area.

You can likely spend the whole of the day trekking through Discovery Park. There are remnants of old Fort Lawton, the waterfront, native American heritage and just good old fashioned nature that occasionally harbors a wayward mountain lion and almost always is home to a number of nesting bald eagles. Walk the dog, run, day hike, picnic, check out the history. It's all there.

Really cool park right in the city that makes you feel like you're in the middle of a forest. Do the 2.8 mile loop from the parking lot and you'll be rewarded with stunning vista points near the tail end of the trek - requires very little exertion.

Beautiful beach front just 10 minutes outside of the city. We went for a Sunday picnic and sat on the driftwood and watched the sail boats, then walked down to the lighthouse. Beautiful!
