We live in West Seattle, on the opposite side from Alki Beach. Whenever we want to go to one of our favorite pizza places (Pegasus, right on Alki Drive) we always weigh factors: is it a weekend? Is it a nice summer day? If the answer to both of those questions is 'yes' then we avoid Alki altogether. On nice summer days the entire stretch of Alki beach is swarming with thousands and thousands of people. Parking is impossible, lines to restaurants are long and, well, there are just tons of people everywhere. That said, Alki is a lovely place at other times of the year, or later in the evening when most of the hordes have gone elsewhere. If you are the kind of person who likes crowds then go ahead and join the throngs. We will wait until you leave before we venture forth to Alki.
