“A Day at the Beach”
Reviewed May 26, 2009

Golden Gardens is one of our favorite parks in Seattle. Though small, it has everything a waterfront has to offer--a boulevard to stroll, a wide swath of sand for lounging and building sand castles, a brisk breeze for kite flying, a pier for fishing, even a clam shack for snacks. There are picnic tables and grills under the trees, with grass for children to play, and in the sand, large firepits where bonfires are often lit in the evenings. There are restrooms, poles for volleyball nets, and best of all, amazing views of the Sound and the Olympic mountains.

On a warm summer day, the park will be packed with families and young people playing ball and sunning on the sand. Arrive early for the best spots.

“A great sandy beach for sunbathing in Seattle”
Reviewed July 8, 2007

Golden Gardens is a great place to spend a summer day. It is popular for taking a romantic stroll, for kids to play in the shallow stream with the sand and for families to have a large picnic at one of the shelters that can be reserved. The park has many firepits along the beach for evening bonfires.
The bathhouse has a small concession stand and a recently remodeled space inside that can be rented for meetings, parties and weddings. I've booked my wedding there and have been to one there as well.
At low tide, you can walk north to another park in the Greenwood area. Just make sure to time the tide right to make it back!
The park closes at 11PM.
