A fun little aquarium but to get everything out of your visit to need to do some of the keeper programs.

If all you did was walk through to look at the exhibits, you could go through this aquarium in an hour or so - what makes this location special is the demonstrations that go on throughout the day. On our visit we watched a Pacific Octopus get fed fish, watched a seal training session and the fish feeding and diver talk at the underwater dome.

We have been to big aquariums like the Monterey Bay or Atlanta facility before and we still enjoyed visiting this location. A lof of the fish and mammals on display were indigenous to the Northwest and the keepers knowledge showed.

A great thing to do is to visit the aquarium in the morning, walk up the hill to Pike's Place for lunch and an afternoon of shopping.

I am seeing the reviews here on TA regarding this aquarium. Believe it when these reviews say that it is teeming with children. I have been to aquariums (aquaria??) in many cities and this is by far the least interesting one I have been too. i did enjoy the information about the salmon (along with the variuos sized salmon on exhibit) and also enjoyed the sea otters - there were 3 of them that were swimming all around. They are so lovely.

That being said, I could not get near a window exhibit because of the literally hundreds of kids that were everywhere. I just could not wait to get out of there. Also, there just is not that much to this aquarium, and it is not worth the $15 (or $14 if you get a Seattle Attractions coupon). If you have kids, by all means, go and enjoy. If you don't, and especially if you don't want to be caught in a swarm, then you should pass.

The aquarium is fine. Nothing that special. It's amusing to see feeding time for the sharks.
-Though I suggest walking down the street along the piers.
-Buy some french fries
-Then hold them above your head
-There is a small fast food place on a pier where people feed the seagulls. My friend and I had a fun time watching them squabble over the french fries, and there amazing ability to snatch the fries out of our hands.

This aquarium is a little on the small side, not sure if it's worth the $15.00 to get in. If you want to go, I suggest going when it's salmon season so that you can see the salmon jumping over the locks that they have set up. Even though it is small they have quite a few tanks and exhibits to keep your attention.
Every single member of the staff there was extremely friendly, they didn't hesitate to stop and talk at all.

The Seattle Aquarium was initially a bit disappointing. The displays were interesting and the fish were beautiful. The aquarium is more of a kid's attraction and be prepared to fight the little rascals for a view of the fish. We did ;o) The best part of the aquarium happened towards the end when we were fortunate enough to a front-row view of the sea otters bathing themselves. If you don't bring your kids, find something else to do.
