Thorougly enjoyed our visit to the Silver Cloud-Lake Union.
Excellent location across from Lake Union. Loved watching the sailboats and seaplanes. Very nice rooms. Free parking. Excellent service from staff. Large complimentary breakfast and great Tuesday night reception. Staying at the Silver Cloud certainly started our trip to the Northwest off on a high point! Highly recommend it.

This hotel has a good location across the street from Lake Union and close to the Seattle Center. Initially we were given a lower floor location, but on request we were moved to the top floor with an exceptional view of the lake and the Space Needle.
The toilet/bath shower room was seperated from the wash sink and vanity which we found a strange layout, but there was a microwave, studio fridge and sink available and convenient. Bedding was very comfortable. Housekeeping was excellent and the room was in good repair. The staff were courteous and helpful. There was excellent soundproofing in the room, including the set of French glass doors that opened up for viewing. The complimentary continental breakfast scene was chaotic and open tables were always at a premium. Food items, including make your own waffles, were adequate. There was ample free parking available in the hotel's 2-floor garage. This is a decent value hotel, but the local taxes are nearly usury at $31/day. A few guide books claim that restaurants are across the street which is not true--it's a marina and boatyard. There's a cluster of restuarants about 3 blocks south in the direction of the Seattle Center/Space Needle.

Fabulous Stay
July 19, 2006
Trip Advisor Viewer from Asheville, NC
We stayed at the Silver Cloud pre-cruise to Alaska for 3 days and post-cruise for 1 day. We loved it here and will stay again when we take our next cruise from Seattle. The 3rd floor viewing room where breakfast is served is beautiful overlooking Lake Union. It is like a huge but cozy living room with an outdoor patio. Sunset on the patio was spectacular. The shuttle driver was excellent and took us to all the places we wanted to see and picked us up promptly. Staff was cheerful and helpful. The bed was extremely comfortable and the room clean and well-appointed. Free laundry on the 4th to 7th floor with Maytag washer and dryer was a plus. We used it as our luggage didn't arrive with us and we washed the clothes we had on for the next day. We booked the Silver Cloud because of the positive Trip Advisor Traveler's comments. Great place -- great stay. Much better than staying in the busy downtown and the price for Seattle is extremely reasonable.

Myself, husband and son enjoyed 2 nights at the Silver Cloud, Lake Union, in a suite facing the Lake. There was a very comfortable king bed, separated from the sitting area, with sleeper sofa, by sliding doors. The decor was tasteful and everything spotlessly clean. There was free internet and a whopping great TV on the wall (as well as a 'normal' sized TV in the bedroom area). There was a sink outside the bathroom - and inside. The lobby served around the clock beverages - the 24-hour little convenience store was useful - and the shuttle was an absolute godsend - saved us hours of hassle with the traffic - not to mention many pennies for parking. We generally tipped the driver $5 per trip - much cheaper than a taxi! Despite the slow lift, we cannot fault the Silver Cloud and would stay there again in a heartbeat.

If a hotel could be almost perfect for the price per night, this would be the one. Very clean, very comfortable and great service. A free business center (internet, printers, photocopy), free local calls, free coffee and tea, free laundry facilities on four floors (just $1.09 for the soap!) and an excellent free shuttle service just added to the value of this hotel. We were staying there over 4th July and had booked Mariners tickets - to our amazement we found that the hotel had organised a special shuttle trip for guests straight to Safeco Field and pickup afterwards! A minimarket in the lobby, fitness center open 24 hours and two pools as well. Rooms excellently maintained, very spacious and very clean.

We watched the fireworks on Lake Union from our bedroom window and the hotel happily gave us an extra chair. We also found out next day that a serious fire had broken out a few blocks away that night and that the hotel put up people who had been evacuated free of charge.

If we had to find anything to criticize it would be so small not to be worth mentioning - the breakfast was generous but a bit of a cramped area for so many people and there was only one main (slow!) elevator in the lobby - two others were situated in another wing, perhaps a design fault of the building.

But that was it. A great hotel and well worth the #1 spot on Trip Advisor.
