“Good for the price and location”
Reviewed October 7, 2013

This property is being renovated a bit at a time. Overall, the building is a little worn. The staff were quite nice. The breakfast room was clean and kept well stocked with the usual fare. The hot cinnamon rolls were better than many others I've had. Each day had a different variation of eggs and meat. There is a pancake machine, breads, bagels, and muffins, toasters, cereals, yogurt, milk, boiled eggs, and juices.
The location is a short two or three blocks walk from the Space Needle and city center.
There are several bus stops a block or so away. We walked downtown more than once and to Pike Place a few times with no problems. Sometimes we rode the bus back.
My only complaints were the slow elevators (which may have been due to renovations) and the pool being out of service our first three days. Each time I inquired about the pool I was told there was a minor pump repair and it would reopen in a few hours.
We stayed in two rooms. The top floor was a little louder with plumbing noise but had a vaulted ceiling which I prefer. The showers were always hot and had great pressure.

Stephanie D,

Thank you for the review. I am happy to hear you found our location convenient to the sites. As for the renovations, I do apologize for the nuisance. The elevators have been rather slow however, we did just install a new motor. That should help. Other than that I appreciate you taking the time to provide us your comments.

Thank you,
Gerald Garcia

We booked a 2 night package through the Victoria Clipper. This hotel is conveniently situated being a reasonable walk to the Space Needle,Chihuly Glass Museum etc. The rooms are reasonably spacious with comfortable beds and a selection of firm or soft pillows. We were two friends travelling together to attend a concert at the Key Arena. The sink and vanity area separate from the bathroom worked well for us. Our room was clean and well maintained. Front desk staff were very friendly, efficient and helpful. Convenient to have access to a computer in the lobby.

Room Tip: Rooms on the back side of the hotel are quieter.

Sure a convenient location: at walking distance of the Needle, EMP, Glass Garden and hop-on-and-hop-off trolleys. You should ask some directions at the front desk though, for one has to cross highway 99 and starting off in the wrong direction might result in a stiff march. The desk was efficient and absolutely friendly and helpful. Parking space is widely available at very reasonable rates. (We even got it for free as welcome for our first Seattle visit). The room was clean and, although a bit aged, well maintained. For diner and breakfast, there is an independent restaurant in the same block. We’ve had a decent breakfast twice. Diner facilities are very ‘basic’: limited menu, long preparation time, due to a small staffed kitchen and a ‘fastfood atmosphere’ (e.g. the bartender constantly discussing the football shown on the TV-screens with certain clients at the bar). Overall: a convenient and affordable place to stay for a visit of Seattle.

This hotel is starting to show it's age, I stayed here back in 2005 as well. Overall a bit pricy for being in the poorer area of downtown Seattle.

I had booked at block of 5 rooms. We all showed up about 10:30 or 11 pm and were very tired from a long day an just wanted to wind down. Rooms were booked via the Holiday Inn website. We had a rate of $176 per night with taxes bringing it right around the $200 mark. When I checked in for our 5 rooms they were insistent that we had booked at $216 a night plus taxes that brought it to over $250 per room. The clerk continually asked me for a receipt -- I had no receipt only an email confirmation that I showed her on my i-phone. She tried to tell me some garbage about it being an estimated charge. Since when did one book a hotel and the change change after booking? I have travelled lots and stayed in many many hotels over the years and never been told this. To the agent's credit she got everyone room keys although we had not settled on a price. I spend over an hour dealing with this mess. Sent emails to 3 different people and told it would be settled in the morning.

In the morning I went to check out and the desk clerk had no idea what I was talking about, stated the manager would not be in for an hour and she would look after it. (We had to get going). I did not want to leave and have to deal with this on the phone long distance after departure. Finally after insisting we had a different manager come out and we had to tell the story all over again. That is the most frustrating part -- telling the same thing over and over and over again. Just fix it. The manager did fix the issue but this again wasted our time. However no explanation was given as to why they were insistent we book all 5 rooms at $216 when I clearly had an email stating otherwise.

Finally this is not the hotel's fault at all but just want people to be aware of the neighbourhood. We knew going in this wasn't the best part of downtown Seattle but was affordable and a place to sleep for 1 night. I had stayed there before and it was comfortable. We were told there was security in the parking lot however in the morning one of our 5 rooms occupants had his car window smashed inn. I know this could happen anywhere anytime but just want people to be aware it happened to us.

The location is very convenient to the Space Needle, monorail & Chihuly Glass Museum.
Room was clean & well maintained. For breakfast, they clearly make an effort to provide variety
for those staying longer than overnight.
My only suggestion is a sign reminding guests to dress appropriately for breakfast. I was amazed at the number of people who chose to come to breakfast in their pj's & slippers! It appears the advertising is being taken literally!

Stayed here once while visiting downtown. Not overtly impressed. We stay at H I Express on most trips. This is not one of their best.

Very clean. Friendly staff.
The hotel itself is very "cold" in colors, furniture ambience.
Not for romance.

Food was typical hotel breakfast food. Hot, plentiful, not bad for the room price considering u pay $4.50 for coffee across the street.

Parking is sparse, dangerous and
Ridiculous. Watch the under ground parking. Very tight driving and parking.

All in all, it was a typical HI Express. Which as I said before, we usually like. This hotel is all business, for business. Still, a decent place for a decent price.

Room looked out at the Space Needle. In room amenities included small kitchen area with fridge, microwave, sink, and cabinets. Only drawback was breakfast area was too small to accommodate all guests.
