We stayed here for about a week after our cruise. I had made reservations about 7 months prior to our stay, so I was quite surprised to be told that the type of room we had reserved was not going to be available the first night. We were told we could take a different room for the first night and then switch to the original afterwards. Nobody in the family wanted to settle in one room for one night and then be hassled by having to move to another room the next day, so we said we'd just take the smaller room. We were disappointed, but we didn't fuss or yell, because that's just not our style. Therefore, I was very pleasantly surprised when, the very next day, the front desk informed us that the manager was offering to move us into a larger room, on the highest floor, but still charge us the price for the smaller room. They even offered to move our suitcases for us, as long as they were packed. Now THAT'S what I call good customer service!
Now, on to the pros and cons. It might look like I am listing a lot of cons, but really they are mostly small items, and I believe they are planning to update the hotel sometime in the near future, so if they correct the cons, they'll have a fabulous place.
Pros: Location - we were able to walk just about everywhere. We were close to Seattle Center and tons of restaurants. Food - hot breakfast every day was good (particularly the scones, and the bacon was crispy just like I like it), hot dinner weekday evenings was okay, even though we only got to try it a few times, because we arrived back at the hotel just a little too late (they stopped at 7pm) most nights. Good selection of coffees, teas and creamers. Free cookies - yum!! Nicely stocked "store". Friendly front desk. Spacious, spacious, spacious suite. Lots of windows. Good air conditioning. Room felt virtually soundproof - no hall noise, no street noise. Room darkening curtains that really worked!
Cons: Cabinet doors in kitchen impossible not to slam (hinges too tight?). Bathroom water pressure weak. Wifi spotty and slow. Carpet frayed in multiple places. Bedroom closet door off hinges. No pool. No in-room safe. Breakfast needs more non-egg options. Only two washers and dryers for guest use (suggest doubling to 4 when you remodel). Washers and dryers take quarters only (but front desk was great with making change). Small workout room (though it never seemed overly busy). Maid service very late in the day, even when we hung the sign requesting it on our door. The wakeup call I requested the last morning never came (good thing we also set the alarm as backup, or we'd have missed our flight).
Hopefully they are remodeling soon and will fix the kind of small things we pointed out. If so, we'd love to come back when we next visit Seattle.
