“Sleek & Modern, LOVE LOVE this hotel!!!”
Reviewed January 4, 2011

Stayed at the Hyatt at Olive 8 for 2 nights, family of 5 with 3 teen boys.

We booked 2 connecting rooms (1 king, 2 queens). Very modern and clean hotel, very friendly valet and check-in service. Spacious rooms, comfortable beds, spacious bathrooms. Ordered room service twice, very good food and service. Nice gym and lap pool. Will definitely try the hotel spa next time. The only thing I found to be missing is a soda machine, but not timportant overall. Quiet room, didn't hear any other guests.

Great location to the wonderful downtown shopping, coffee places, restaurants, very safe location.

We will definitely return to this hotel on our next visit to Seattle, this hotel is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!

Thank you so much for the recommendation! We know that teens can be picky so we are glad this worked out for your large family! The pool is a hit, especially this time of year so glad that you got a chance to use it. Thanks so much for trying us out and I hope to see you again soon!

We really enjoyed the cleanliness of the spacious room and bathroom. Lots of drawers and good closet space. The bed was extremely comfortable with extra pillows. We were able to use our computer thanks to the cable provided at no charge by the front desk. We enjoyed everything we tried at the hotel and we will be back. Thanks HYATT!

Thanks for taking the time to leave your feedback!! Glad that you enjoyed the bed, that is a big thing for us! Also glad you liked the drawers and closet space – it’s a different layout that we think works well but it’s nice to have the confirmation! See you down here again soon!

Located in a certified "green" building, the Hyatt still manages to provide luxury and comfort. For example, the pool and jacuzzi are filled with salt water, but not so salty as to sting your eyes, to avoid chlorine. It gives a very comfortable feel to the water, which is augmented by the setting -- looking out at tree level. The rooms are so sound proof, we didn't hear anything when emergency fire, ambulance and police arrived to deal with a vehicle/pedestrian accident on the street right below our room. The location is excellent, two short blocks from the train/bus station (Seattle has excellent public transportation), and one short block from great shopping. The biggest surprise was how good the restaurant in the hotel, Urbane, is. Typical hotel prices for breakfast, but so good we ate there 3 mornings in a row, as well as having dinner one night. Due to family circumstances we will be visting Seattle a lot in the future and will definitely stay there again.

I really liked reading your review…because the first sentence sums up what this hotel is all about…being as sustainable as possible while providing luxury and comfort. I appreciate as well your eye for detail on the pool. Thanks for trying Urbane; we try to be as sustainable as possible in the restaurant as well. Thanks for considering our hotel your home away from home on your upcoming visits to Seattle!

Stayed at the Hyatt Olive 8 for a weekend - great stay! I've traveled quite extensively and have stayed at nice hotels in major metros -
We arrived early - too early for check in - and left our bags with concierge at the check in desk. Not a problem, concierge brougth them to our room upon checkin - very attentive front desk and service staff. This hotel is LEDD cert - ultra-modern and cutting edge decor. We do regret having not eated at the restaurant on site, which is known to be one of Seattle's best dining experiences
Rooms are large and the view was great - right downtown. Only a 15 minute walk to Pike's Market -
Clean rooms, nice size, marble bathrooms, oversized shower that was spotless/clean - everything was excellent. My wife and I look forward to staying here again on our next visit to Seattle.

Thanks for the great review…I am only sorry that after your long trip from SC that we couldn’t get you right into your room. Thanks also for pointing out that we are a LEED certified hotel…it’s a big part of who we are and what we do. We look forward to seeing you again soon!

From the front desk to the restaurant, everyone we met was helpful, friendly and engaging.
We thought the rooms were amazing. Good sized rooms with great bedding, comfortable chairs, nice lighting, great coffee maker, wonderful computer station and ipod docking station, great big windows, good sized bathroom and on and on and on.... We LOVED the frosted bathroom door in the corner king room.

Urbane has a nice happy hour and a wonderful breakfast !!

We will definitely be back and will share our experience with all of our friends...

Went with 3 girlfriends to Seattle for an overnight - shopping, Christmas lights, food. Everything at the Olive 8 was a great experience, from the moment we checked in to the time we left. Joey at the front desk worked with us to get adjoining rooms and even sent up wine and chocolates later that night! The entire staff was friendly, the rooms were awesome, the pool, sauna, steam room and work out facilities were sumptuous. Everything in the room was top notch - beds, linens, blow dryer, products, etc. Location is great too - close to top restaurants, shopping, bus stop, Pike's Market. We are all ready to return and stay more than 1 night.

I booked a Premier Queen room (which has two queen beds) for a Saturday night stay. I have stayed at my fair share of downtown Seattle business hotels, and they are more or less about the same--except for this Hyatt. I was impressed. First of all, the room was advertised as 740 square feet, and indeed it was the most spacious hotel room I've been in outside of suites in Las Vegas. Beautiful corner location with rows and rows of windows, bringing in lots of natural light. Nice flat-screen TV and clean-as-a-whistle bathroom. Some trouble with noise from our next-door neighbors, but that's to be expected.

We had trouble with the room temperature, which got very cold and very hot when you turned the fan on, but somehow couldn't get "just right." Maybe a quirk of the "green" certification? Service was prompt and extremely friendly, and when I called down for extra shampoo it came within a half hour. I was also impressed by the call to the room from the gal who checked me in, just to make sure we had everything. Our room was on the 4th floor, so the view wasn't as sweeping as advertised on the corporate website. If you are paying full price and want a view, request a high floor.

Valet parking was a breeze, and, sadly, $39 is the norm for downtown Seattle. I've waited for my car for a half hour at other hotels on Sunday check-outs, but they had my car within 2 minutes.

We had breakfast at the lobby restaurant, and that was the only disappointment. Food was overpriced and overcooked, and service was very slow with 3/4 of the tables full. Many patrons seemed to have free breakfast coupons. If you don't have a coupon, skip it.

Thank you so much for the kind review. I do want to apologize that the temperature controls couldn’t get things quite right; I would welcome a call to my office so we can investigate the room you stayed in. As well, I am sorry that your breakfast experience left something to be desired, I appreciate your feedback and we’ll review with the team in Urbane. But I did want to thank you for pointing out the size of that room…it is a doozy! Thanks as well for all of your observations on the rooms, much appreciated. We are glad that we could provide a nice weekend stay for you downtown and hope to see you again soon!
