“Great big LCD TV in nice and new rooms - check for good rates”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 26, 2009

The highlight of this hotel from my point of view are the 37" LCD TV's that bring HDTV to your hotel room. The rooms look new and quite clean. The location of the hotel is close to the Convention Center and downtown Seattle.

The restaurant inside the hotel is extremely overpriced, but you can find everything you need close by. There is a refrigerator and an electric kettle in the room. The refrigerator did not work in my room at first, but they could fix it within a day.

Service (maid service, front desk) is okay, but nothing special.

For your transfer from/to the airport consider taking bus route 194 for just USD 1.75 instead of the modes the hotel want to arrange for you.

Internet costs USD 9.99 per day which is acceptable (though, of course, free internet access should be the standard).

I got a fair deal for this hotel at Priceline (USD 130 per night incl. taxes w/o breakfast), so try there and don't pay too much.

Glad that you enjoyed the HD TV’s. We have 37” flat screens in all rooms. Guests can even dock their laptops or iPods to view as full or half screens. Sorry that you felt the restaurant was too pricey, but you are correct that there are all kinds of options close by covering quite a spectrum of food and price. I can say without a doubt the transportation I recommend to all of our guests is Seattle’s new light rail train. Not only will it get you directly from the airport for $2.50 each way, it can also take you to other areas of downtown including Pioneer Square and the Stadiums. Thanks for staying with us!

My wife and I stayed here for 3 nights. The gym is first class with modern LifeFitness equipment in a super clean gym looking outside from the 2nd floor. There are free weights as well as an adjoining room for aerobics, yoga, etc. There were at least 8 treadmills and 4 bicycle machines.

The restaurant and lobby bar were extremely nice with 5 local draught beers and local cheeses and cured meats available.

The staff from bellman to the receptionists were extremely helpful.

Thanks for the great review, glad that you were able to take advantage of all areas of the hotel and that our service was helpful (and I enjoyed your play on words in the title of your review!). We are really proud of that gym, and take a lot of pride that everything in the Restaurant and Bar is as local as possible, really happy that you noticed and enjoyed your stay!

This hotel was very nice and within the financial district in Seattle. Not too close to downtown nightlife, but walkable to shopping and Pike's Place. The rooms were not terribly big, but well furnished and made good use of the space.

Thanks for staying with us and taking time to post your comments. While we are seven blocks from Belltown, there is still a lot to do in our part of downtown, including the Paramount and 5th Avenue theaters and a number of restaurants and lounges. Our standards rooms range in size from 345 to 473 square feet, definitely above average in Seattle, but they are longer and narrower, which we think gives you lots of great space on both sides of the bed instead of at the foot. And as you mentioned, we tried to make good use of the space by not using a traditional dresser or armoire and using ‘barn doors’ for the closet and bathroom. It’s great to have visitors from Portland….see you again soon!

The experience staying at the Olive 8 was greatly diminished by the poor service in the dining/bar aspect of the hotel. My overall feeling was that we were an inconvenience and the young lady that served us had no business being in a service/hospitality job. We stayed there 4 nights and on the last night we had to ask to be served..........simply no appreciation. There needs to be some major training and improvements in this area.
The manager over this area needs to get up to speed on service to the levels in the rest of the hotel!!

Thank you for taking time to share your feedback. We are very sorry that the experience in the restaurant soured your stay with us. We will certainly review your comments with the entire team in the restaurant and reemphasize our service standards. This is certainly not acceptable and we hope that you will give us another chance in the future.

Conceived and created as a green hotel, this is one of the few LEED-certified hotels in the U.S. . And every room has a system where lights and appliances can only be used if a keycard is in a wall slot, which ensures you don’t leave anything on while you’re out.

Great staff, attention to every detail.

Stayed this summer for convention. Stay was about a week. FABULOUS hotel. Rooms were quiet, well appointed, and good sized. Beds were incredibly comfortable. Front desk staff was friendly and concierge was very helpful.Great pool area (had one issue with parents who thought 5 kids under 8 or 9 in the jacuzzi was appropriate) and great gym area. Room service was super tasty- did not have time for restaurant. Lobby coffee bar was good, but slow. The spa is the best perk of the place. A must if you can! Great location to convention center as well as mall and a short walk to Pike Place Market. On bus route and within the free bus zone. WOULD DEFINITELY USE AGAIN AND AGAIN!
